In the modern gaming world, we’re usually given soundtracks that are A) Orchestrated or are B) Contract deals from popular artist or bands.
These are great additions to video games along with the industry itself; nevertheless, they aren’t as unique as an 8-bit video game soundtrack. See, these 8-bit tracks we hear are made for video games. They’re never heard in movies or radio stations. Anyone can tune into their favorite radio station to hear a song from Papa Roach, Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park, Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop Dog and other famous artist. They also can be easily implemented in a video game without a problem. (See: Madden). Orchestrated soundtracks can also be found in movies ranging from the Dark Knight to Indiana Jones. Hell, songs found on radio station can easily be placed in movies. (See: Recent trashy movie to hit theatres. Exception: Scott Pilgrim. That movie was AWESOME)
