PC Gamer: I recently met with Creative Assembly at their Horsham studio, where I tried my hardest not to dribble over the shoulder of one of their staffers as he walked me through the basics of Shogun 2: Total War. You can read my overall impressions in the next issue of PC Gamer, But I thought it’d be nice to throw up some details of what I saw on the day.
The demo came in three sections: the campaign map, a battle sequence, and some naval combat. So let’s cap them in order.
GamersGate unveiled its classical Week-End sale and you can now get some of the greatest PC 2K Games titles discounted by 75%. Headliners are The Bureau : XCOM Declassified, Borderlands : GOTY, Bioshock 1 & 2, NBA 2K14 and The Darkness II. They also have Blades of Times discounted by 75% as their daily deal, Total War and Space Battle Week-End are featured too.
There are actually some pretty good deals here, and a wide variety of games for everyone
Splitkick: If you’ve never played a Total War game, Shogun 2 is one of the most-universally praised games in the long-running series, and Creative Assembly has done a yeoman’s job in making it approachable yet deep. If, like me, you’ve been wanting to play it for quite some time, but haven’t installed the copy you bought on sale ages ago, do it before Rome 2 comes out this fall. Pardon me while I go assault Kyoto.
Ironhammers: We’ve now got a third member on our PC gaming podcast and will be broadcasting via Google Hangouts On Air, once a week. The format stays roughly the same for now, but new segments are dripping their way into the show — and we added a ‘Topic of the Week’ segment, which this week was focused on the trials and tribulations of always online DRM.
