Tough Question for Next-gen: Are the PS3 and 360 Doomed by Wii & Casual Games?

"Are the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 akin to the final glorious generation of Cretaceous dinosaurs?"
Whether anyone admits it or not, no one really wants to see a downfall of a console. It has happened in the past and can very well happen in the future. It is a possibility with any console and it happens in any business.

Then no, HD gaming is here to stay.

Are you pointing to the game Bioshock here?

In a plane, crash... :P
Buy Bioshock, buy a 360

BTW the most money is still made on the 360, with 6.1 attach rate per unit and much money made on XBL Marketplace. The 360 can have half the number of units out there compared to the Wii and still be more profitable.

It's not ALL about units, but also on added sales.

Want Bioshock? Buy it for the PC.

No need to waste money on the 360Freezbox.

Yeah dude, I love my 360 and have NEVER had a problem with it. Not once! Lucky me, huh?

Anyway, I prefer to play a game on my PC whenever it is available, so I agree with you on getting it for PC.

THe PC is the BEST gaming platform PERIOD. (assuming you have the money like we do anyway) If I was poorer I would only be gaming on a 360.

So you're saying, to get the same level of graphics and experience as on the 360 you need this:

"Recommended System Requirements:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo processor

System RAM: 2GB

Video card:
DX9: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT or better)
DX10: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or better

Sound Card: Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ series (Optimized for use with Creative Labs EAX ADVANCED HD 4.0 or EAX ADVANCED HD 5.0 compatible sound cards)"

That'll cost you what... Motherboard, etc. etc... Lets say about 1.500 to 2.000 dollar at least?

Compared to a Premium 349 Dollar/Euro. Indeed, its freezing cool. If one ever had overheating problems you get the extra heatsink, problem solved!

What I want to point out, not many people are able to play Bioshock the way it should. Unless a few PC geeks like yourself probably.

So buy Bioshock, buy a 360. Simple.

Even though i own more game for my 360 than ps3. sometimes u have to understand (directed at the mart) that the ps3 is a good console.

Edit: just give it some time 360 had 2 years. Ps3 been out for 3 months in uk. but it had more games than 360 when it was out for 3 months

Love the first pic "The new Wii audience?". But in reality, we should wait more to see if Wii effect goes off or is here to stay. Also, with more people getting 60+ inch HDTVs, Wii will games look terrible on them and more will be joining the HD camp. That is all unless Nintendo doesn't release a HD enabled Wii Lite.

"with more people getting 60+ inch HDTVs, Wii will games look terrible on them and more will be joining the HD camp."

Very true. I remember how awful games looked last gen in 480p on my HDTV, thank god this is not relived with the 360 and PS3. The Wii looks fine in SD, but after hooking a buddy's up to my TV, I was totally not enjoying it.

Very true.
Even on my no so big HDTV (Which is way too small compared to those huge plasma modern TVs)in SD mode looks too blurry and in 480p looks like a low res PSone game.

well, I hope not because it spells trouble for all of us and the industry's acceptance as a viable entertainment medium and to be considered an artform

you got your casual gamers & hardcore gamers. & no matter hardcore gamers are gonna be around no matter what. cause a casual gamer can't play as long & as better as a hardcore gamer can.
