While Sony's PlayStation Portable has traditionally been positioned as a handheld for older gamers, the company is now targeting younger consumers to broaden the system's audience.
Really, you do reliase they can access the internet through the PSP and go to unappropriate websites like; Porn, etc.
The only reason I have a psp is for porn. <3
You realize they can do the same thing on a computer?
I know, but what im trying to say is that PSP should not be for little kids.
14 year olds aren't little kids nor are they as ignorant as sexuality as you may think. Bet you some of them have gotten more action in their lifetime than 40 year old World of Warcraft players have in theirs.
The sad thing is that is true in some cases. We've got young ass kids having sex at eleven years old. But that in no way means they know anything about sexuality or themselves for that matter.
Hand-held Consoles were built with the young teenagers (now it's mostly gaming on the go)in mind, not all 12-14 year olds are going to get it and immediately search for porn. At least I didn't and I know quite a few kids whom (who) don't either.
With that Marcus PSP campaign, I could have sworn their target audience was retards.
The PSP's always been for everyone IMO
as long as they don't shift the same focus toward the games that touch the PSP, I don't really care. Still got God of War coming then....hmm...God of War...what else IS coming out on PSP? Anyone know what's up with that Resident Evil game they announced last year at E3? I hope Capcom doesnt make that the same situation as Devil May Cry PSP.
it will probaply come for the 3ds instead for the psp but i dont care 2011 is Dissidia Duodecim coming =D
Really? What kid is gonna be able to shell out $250 for a Go and then buy M-rated games like GOW? It seems Sony doesn't know who their audience is.
Well you do realize this is why there are only TWO god of wars on PSP then
the same can be said about xbox 360 with 12 to 15 year old kids dominating Xbox Live playing games like halo & gears.it's only that Sony spoke about the age of their psp's target audience that you are now talking about Price & M ratings for kids. smart pants.
They somehow manage to spend $200-$400 for an ipod touch so why not.
they don't the parents do...
They end up with it. Thats the point.
the psp 3000 core pack cost $170 and I expect a price cut before christmas
WTF so gow gos rated m hows kid gonna get it
Sony isn't going to come and take your PSP if you don't fit into that age bracket. They are talking about they're advertising not who can play on their platform. If you want to play God of War on PSP go for it, no one is stopping you.
Kiddies can't pirate.
besides one person playing an actual game on the psp all ive seen it used for is for portable porn and wiabu center....course bashing apple gets sony a thumbs up
I hope Sony announce the PSP2 next week at TGS. It doesnt need to be a phone i think, but it does need to have 4G connectivity for people without internet access. It should also have games on flash cards, as i feel Sony are sacrificing a lot with UMD.
There you have it. PSP is for kids. I remember when Sony dissed Nintendo DS for being kiddy.
I'm sick of companies crapping on the older fans who got them where they are today. The reason why Sony has been in the gaming business long enough to have this 15 year anniversary isn't because of the 12-14 who weren't even born when they started out,it's older people who were there from the start and keep buying there products.
that older people have the tendency to do what we do. They keep up with the industry. They are more aware, as gamers, of what they want and what they don't want. Older gamers are probably less influenced by a simple ass-kicking commercial. Now, take the average 12-14 year old and it's totally reverse. Impulse buys and the "needs" of teens are what many companies are marketing toward. Indirectly, they are saying "this is what's new and hot...now tell your parents that you gotta have it!" There is a goldmine to be made in that age range. That's why devs are so hesitant to make M rated games. That's why scary movies and action flicks are now mostly PG-13 instead of R, etc. That teenage market is ripe for the picking.
There is no doubt that the PSP had more mature games than DS, it is a shame they are doing this. Hopefully they won't go with battery chewing mocing disks for the next PSP...seriously..UMD..wtf were they thinking
Agreed. But sadly I'm half sure PSP2 will have a MiniBD drive. They'll claim it's there to give the handheld more multimedia value and announce a bunch of Sony Pictures content on MiniBD, just like they did with UMD. That's indeed a poor decision as they could just have one little bigger internal memory and people could legally buy movies from PSN, maybe even rent from Netflix, and no one would have to carry discs around, which people don't do already anyway, they simple pirate the movie... But still I believe Sony will not miss on the chance to sell movies in physical media. This next PSP they better get things right because Nintendo steped up their game by getting 3DS to have practically everything we have asked for PSP2 in the last years, except dual analogic knobs and phone capabilities... It has touchscreen, PS2 like graphics, Resident Evil and 3D.
Hell, put Pokemon, Monster Hunter or similar titles on the PSP and call it a day!
if they want to boost there sales , sony should hire justin bieber instead of him
