Rumor: Mass Effect 3 for PS3, Announcement Coming Next Month

Ever since the announcement of Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 was made, people have been clamoring over whether or not Mass Effect 3 would make way to the system when the game releases. That question may now have an answer and it looks like it'll be made official in just a few short weeks.

They're not going to release Mass Effect 2 for PS3 and not Mass Effect 3. AT MOST, and this is highly unlikely, it'll be a timed exclusive for a few months for Xbox 360 and PC. But again, very unlikely. Bioware are 99% multiplatform now, exception of The Old Republic which is PC exclusive through-and-through.

I can't really think of a reason to want a 360. I even have Castle Crashers now on my PS3 (awesome game).

Cheeseknight282994d ago

Yeah, if you arent a fan of Halo, Gears, or Fable, there isn't much of a reason to get a 360 now. The Arcade titles are the best exclusives these days, but they arent THAT important. Granted, there are quite a few JRPGs still exclusive to 360 that are worth playing (Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, etc).

Dragun6192994d ago

I'm pretty sure Bioware would wait and release Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 before announcing Mass Effect 3.

EeJLP-2994d ago

Isn't it pretty obvious that ME3 is coming to PS3? They're bringing 2 w/ extra content (possibly to tie into or make up for 1).. why wouldn't they bring 3?

I don't really see how its a 'Rumor', besides the 'Next Month' part.

WhittO2994d ago

Actually, I think if they announce the 3rd ME will be coming to PS3, then people would prob be more likely to buy the 2nd game since they know they are going to get to play the next 1.

Lightsaber2993d ago

maybe they can dumb it down more for ps3 owners and finish ruining the game. Ist it great that EA owns bioware and is turning all their games in to yearly update trash. Like the rest of the EA line up

Raoh2993d ago

pretty much.. i got rid of my 360 and was at first concerned that i may be missing out on a few games but there isnt much that i cant get on ps3 and pc..

that's the trick if you game on your pc as well as the ps3.. then there is really no need for a 360 unless your a fable and halo fan..

mercsfan2993d ago

Eh, I don't like GT5, LBP, KZ or Move. And I suck at Uncharted. I can't think of the reason to want a PS3.

bjornbear2993d ago

no sh!t.

What happened with bioshock will happen to mass effect. Simultaneous sequel release on 360 and PS3

Sergeant Forge2993d ago

Does that mean Mass effect 2 will run like crap with lower framerate, screen tearing, reduced/missing textures and graphics effects, increased loading times AND sell bugger all compared to the 360 and PC releases?

Lightsaber2993d ago

Yea and it will end up sucking just like bioshock 2 did

Lightsaber2993d ago

and it will suck just like bioshock 2 did too

interrergator2993d ago

i have bioshock for ps3 and i dont see no problems with it the second one has no problems either

JakemanPS319942993d ago

i have bioshock and it looks really nice and runs smoothe for me.

ravinash2993d ago

There were a few issues with the texture display when up close on the PS3 version before release, but they were sorted out shortly after.

I've played it on both PS3 and 360 and both are as good as each other.

FACTUAL evidence2994d ago (Edited 2994d ago )

Whoever thought ME3 wasn't going to be announced after ME2 was announced for PS3 was retarded from the jump.....some people should at least TRY to put two, and two together. It's not shocking ME3 would be on PS3. I'd be shocked if it wasn't. Saying no to ps3 isn't an option anymore.

GWAVE2994d ago

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if ME3 hit the PS3 at the same time as the 360. It's the way the industry will be from now on.

gamerzBEreal172994d ago

im not sure what to think i mean ME2 on ps3 ME1 not so ME3???

pippoppow2994d ago (Edited 2994d ago )

No need to be so emotional. PS3 has been dominating when it comes to exclusives in quantity and quality for a while now. You may prefer the 360 but Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 will be just as enjoyable as other series that started on another platform then the sequels jumped to jet another. Besides who says no one can't play the first one on a PC or even the inferior 360 version if one has the means or desire.

Mass Effect going to the PS3 only validates that there is rarely any MS exclusives that stay exclusive. Hence the validity of owning a 360 decreases drastically besides all it's other myriad of issues.

Montoya2994d ago

I can`t wait to use the PS Move for ME2, I own ME2 for the 360 and the Move would work perfectly for it.

DevastationEve2993d ago

It doesn't ned to be about John Shepard but it could be about some new character. Or some other character from the story.

(...this is exactly what Konami is doing with MGS Rising and yet PS3 fans treat the game with such disgust...hypocrites)

Anyway, it's definitely the finest rpg this gen.

vhero2993d ago

You hit the nail on head for me mate. Castle Crasher was the only game I missed from my 360 and now I have it on my PS3 and maybe Worms at a second best but I just got that today.. I don't buy into the Halo hype as there's not been a good Halo since CE. So it only leaves Gears Of War for me and I refuse to buy a 360 for 1 game.. Oh wait it's not an exclusive the first game is on PC too (A superior version I might add) and I hear the second was pretty bad (unfortunately never got to play and wont pay a fortune to play.)

Unless it's De-mon again from NeoGAF, I still vote "hard to tell".

Then again...

I vote all rumors "hard to tell" even I want / wouldn't want to be true...

Chucky20032994d ago (Edited 2994d ago )

well duh, wasn't this obvious,if fact Mizuka in some way even announced at games com

Dellis2994d ago

Who cares that game is boring, the story telling is so robotic that Uncharted makes it look like the most pathetic story telling ever made.

mrcash2994d ago

story telling in that game is far from robotic, the beauty in mass effect is that you are developing the story making decisions not just watching in the sidelines like lets say Uncharted. As much as I like uncharted, mass effect story telling or whatever you want to call it, is on another level.

kaveti66162993d ago

Uncharted 1 and 2 have similar plots. The story is predictable, the characters are archetypal, and the camp humor can be a bit much.
