Resolution: Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days review

Resolution's Peter Willington writes: Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is absolutely a title that believes games should be more like films, it practically oozes celluloid. Almost everything about the narrative and visual design is stripped out of cinema to create a gritty, highly stylised, ultra violent heist thriller flick in video game form. The gonzo style camera is straight out of Blair Witch or Cloverfield and acts as an unseen third person to our titular anti-heroes. This ’silent camera man’ wields what appears to be an exceptionally poor rip off of a digital camera (no doubt purchased in one of the black markets in the back alleys of K&L’s setting: Shanghai) as visual distortion and intentionally poor camera work is repeatedly utilised to create the game’s unique visual hook.
