Rumor: Final Fantasy XIII heading to Japan in December [scan]

Based on some information that has apparently surfaced from this week's Dengeki, Final Fantasy XIII is coming to Japan in December.

It didn't sell that well on the 360 here and there's only like three people with 360s on in Japan

It sold 1.5 mil units world wide, not bad for a JRPG on the 360, so yes, it sold well enough. Plus it isn't like it's going to cost them anything, they will make money from this so why not?

I also think it increases the likely hood that FFVersusXIII will go multiplatform.

@rhood022: It doesn't matter though about the install base in Japan, the game is already done so why not put it out on 360? Even if it sells 20-80k they will still make money on it?

Yes. It did sell 1.5 "world-wide" aka the UK and US. Where the 360 console install base justified it being released there.

That's not the case in Japan.

Didn't the Japanese buy PS3s to play this game? I mean, everyone who wanted FF13 must have played it by now. Anyway if this is confirmed, I guess it's good news to those rare Japanese 360 owners who don't have a PS3 and wants FF13... :)

Its more an annoying and bad sign that Square is committing resources to projects like this.

Though I suspect, which is only going to be more annoying, is that it'll have a cinema mode that will never leave Japan.

if they don't release it at bargain price it won't sell. the ps3 version went to the bargain bin within a month. there is much 360 in japan so they can't sell it for that stupid amount they did with the ps3 version.

Only way this could sell is if they add additional content. I'm talking secret bosses, new quests, attires, minigames. Basically miniscule stuff that adds replay value. Something the game desperately needs.

The original was already easy mode. Pretty much played itself. Don't how you can make it easier than that, other than it having the characters moving around by themselves.

i'm not sure about this move. People who got x360 in japan most probably also own a ps3; unless some how they don't support their own product, which is very unlikely. Maybe it is cheaper to produce over there and making a few bucks probably wouldn't hurt.

Well, was obvious it would happen eventually, the budget of those (mediocre sadly in FF3 case) games is huge to sell only on PS3 and miss millions of 360 sales

I hope they get the visuals right on 360 this time, not that it matter to me since i will buy it on PS3 because i want the series in one system (i got FF13 on PS3)

For those saying it is a waste of time, consider that they want to make the ground for bringing FF13vs on 360 too

It is obvious, they will announce FF13vs for 360 wordwide (japan included) and would not make sense without FF13 coming there first

Sales are irrelevant, of course will be minimal now, this is only to prepare the ground for FF13vs announcement

Considering the small install base of the 360 in Japan, it doesn't make much sense, especially when the PS3 version outsold the 360 version; and besides...any Japanese gamer that wanted to play FFXIII would have bought a PS3 anyway.
