More screenshots of GT5 damage model

More hi-res screenshots of GT5 damage have surfaced thanks to Asane from the GTPlanet forums. We know that damage is progressive and real-time, meaning it will be different every time you crash the car. Also, the crumpling and deformation seems to be the best on any console out there

I would love to see damage like this

that would be epic.

I have to admit though, when I first saw the damage in this game a few months back, it looked like crap. I'm glad to see they completely changed it, it looks MUCH better now, better than I expected to be honest.

They went from 80MPH into a wall causing a few scratches on the hood, to this

Kudos to them.

The pic reminds me of my uncle who had a cheap car made of two halfs that disconnected on a motorway with his kids in the back. True story. No one was hurt.
The damage is a novalty. GT5 is about having a chance to experience driving the best cars in the world. I want to know how Jeremy Clarkson feels.

the Best thing about Sony & its 1st party studio's is not only they make the best products in the world but the do listen to their fans too,to me this shows the amount of respect they have for us.

so as you said Kudos to Sony & all the Teams.

jwatt3019d ago

I wouldn't say they went back and changed it, what we saw before was just early builds. I don't think PD would do damage unless it's done right.

ExplosionSauce3019d ago

When I play GT5 I think I'll keep the setting to "off".
Such a beautiful car now wrecked :(

Nah, I'll mess around with it a bit :P

Narutone663019d ago

an agreement, that no matter what damage happens, the car can still be driven. If the car is sliced in half, it cannot be driven anymore.

FREAKING EPIC! This is too Amazing... this game will OWN everything

Damage scares me. GT5 should already have depreciation from mileage and wear. I'm a crappy driver. I'll never want to race the million dollar cars for fear I'll ruin them. I guess I will just soup up a Kia and keep the Ferrari in the garage, safe.

outrageous3019d ago

Lets see this in real time. This kid that keeps putting distorted pictures up is making you guys out to be fools...LMAO. There are many REAL VIDEOs showing GT with nothing like that...just look at the pictures. There all blurry and

We'll have to wait and see if this is real.

inveni03018d ago

I don't think that looks good at all. It just looks like someone mangled the car in photoshop. There's no sense of structure to the damage, and there's no obvious point of impact. I'm hoping that's because the images are such low quality.

IcarusOne3018d ago

I know GT5 can do better than this. I'm not convinced these are legit. Compared to this, Forza damage looks more realistic, which is partly why I doubt this is real.

ExplosionSauce3018d ago (Edited 3018d ago )

Not so fake after all.

Since it can be unbearable. Unbearably REAL!

LordStig3019d ago

hopefully you'll be able to write it off if you beat it up that much. Now how's about some footage or pics of a rolled car.

sikbeta3019d ago

GT5 = definition of Definitive... in every aspect....

iPad3019d ago

I don't know whats more amazing.

1. The damage looks unbelievably amazing or

2. This is PD's FIRST TIME implementing damage and it looks THIS amazing. Just imagine in GT6.

Oh! And where's Omega?

Xx Ziyad xX3018d ago (Edited 3018d ago )

itz not amazing at all , if these pic are real who the hell creat damage model with photoshop and none shader ?

danfry3018d ago (Edited 3018d ago )

This damage does not look realistic, when have you ever seen a smashed up car look anything like these examples. PD would not have damaged vehicles in their game that look this poor. These images look like they have just been altered in Photoshop using the "Smudge Tool".

** EDIT - I have just seen moving footage of damage that looks like these screen shots. I can't believe it - looks really bad!! I'm seriously in disbelief that PD would allow this poor looking damage in their game - crumple zones are completely wrong.

aGameDeveloper3018d ago (Edited 3018d ago )

Coincidentally, I was just watching a King of the Hill episode where the kids crash the Dale's Dead Bug van into a light pole. The damage to the van's front end looked more realistic than this!

Rather than hand-crafting every "possible" (meaning several) destruction state for every single vehicle (lots, from what I hear), it looks like they have an automatic system that deforms the model vertices, which WILL cause texture stretch, and make the polygon edges more noticeable.

This doesn't mean the game is coded any worse than any of the other (~five) ways to accomplish vehicle damage. I am surprised, though, that they decided to go with a method that has lower-quality visuals in favor of a fully-automated one.

moneygun23018d ago (Edited 3018d ago )

you must be both fluent in 3DS Maxx and Maya, as well as having a knack to break down the intricacies of shitty cell phone pics while giving examples of footage that must unquestionably exist with the exact type of procedural damage. You must. Right.

BloodyNapkin3018d ago

Wow, those screen's look terrible. Looks like a 3 year old mangled them in photoshop.

Upbeat3018d ago

Forza ? PGR ? Never heard of these games, GT5 HAIL TO THE KING BABY !

STONEY43019d ago

Ewww, those cars look sooo messed up now. I'm glad the real damage is like this, the stuff from a few months ago wasn't that great, this looks really good.
