Kinect Hands-On Impressions [Videos included]

MEGamers: "The first game we saw was Kinect Adventures, a game touted as one that will “get you off the couch and into the game”. The game consists of various mini-games that you can play alone or with friends, ranging from a mad raft race, to a souped-up version of handball-meets-squash, to an obstacle course complete with moving platforms and lifts. Here’s a quick video of the raft race, where the objective is to steer your raft down a river whilst collecting points.

As the video demonstrates, it’s extremely easy to play this game – you simply lean or move your body in the direction you want to go, and the game takes care of the rest. While it may look deceptively easy, the game was in fact quite hard to pull off when I tried it out, and I had to actually shout ‘jump’ to my partner so we didn’t end up crashing. The other games were also quite entertaining, and many of them get you moving all over the place, rather than just standing still and flailing your arms."

The story is too old to be commented.

Played all of these at X'10 and have never been so bored. The most exciting thing I got from the experience was watching my friend and I's avatars high five and punch each other instead of playing the actual game.

Almost starting to sound like a mantra. Its so much better since...

Well lets hope they really got the lag issue worked out along with the rest of the bugs.

Still waiting to see a working demo locally and some decent games before I buy it.

Wow!

Day one curb stomping!

This device is truly terrible.

Did you have to stand 30 feet away like these two?

M$ have their work cut out for them if Kinect is going to be successful beyond the the Christmas period. They're really going to have to show something revolutionary soon, or else the writin gmay be on the wall!

N4GAddict3023d ago

The price tag really hurts them.

ArchangelMike3023d ago

...and the total lack of any compelling games whatsoever!

Unlike the competition Kinect isn't trying to be hardcore YET...but it's mission in life at this point is to bring the casual gamers that have made the Nintendo Wii the top system this gen with 71+ million sold over to the Xbox 360 system. M$ knows who the demographic is for Kinect and they have put together the ultimate line up for them...lets take a look...

First up the game that every 3-7 year old will want to try...Kinectanimals...Who remembers Nintendogs...lol....How did that sell...Hmmmm...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Of course Mom needs to keep in shape as we all do, but running off to the gym can be tough...Ubisofts Your shape to the rescue...Wii fit has sold 10++ million...Hmmmm...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

What about the tweens, they like to party and if you party it helps to rock the dance floor...MTV's Dance Central will do nicely...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Johnny wants to kick some baddies a$$...Kinect has him covered in...Ubisofts...Fighter uncaged...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Got some friends and relatives over and want to laugh it up... Alcohol not necessary but it helps...Kinectadventures will do nicely...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

How about some Jessica Chobot action...er...I mean Sonic Free riders...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Funny how ( PS3 ) people still think the device is not real....LMFAO. M$ is selling a dream in November...

The Tech behind the most advanced add on ever...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Peter Molyneux is a genius...there's alot of onfo in this piece including using Kinect sitting down. If peter ever gets a game out of this tech it will sell millions and millions...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Kinect is in it's infancy and will get better and better. Well played M$, this could really get you those 5-10 million sales you as well as many analysts believe you will this holiday.

fooltheman3022d ago

It will sell well...
it's just so awful that something that doesnt work properly is going to sell...

No company should try this...
they should even get sued for it...

@outrageous
Grasping at straws there.
The reason why it is not going to the hardcore is because it can't. RUSE says hello...

The casual market is the people who pays less because they play less. That is where the cheapest device will win. $150 is the pricerange aimed at the really really hardcore - but the device performs so badly that even the casuals are lifting an eyebrow - except of course for the pad actors.

@fooltheman
I am becoming more and more convinced that it actually will flop at the retail.

This could get you exercise then the Wii fit ever did
