Street Fighter X Tekken: The cases for and against

Will Street Fighter X Tekken be a blatant money-grab, or the grestest game the fighting genre has ever known?

GamePro's Chris Jager and Spandas Lui duke it out with two differing opinions. (Only you can crown the winner.)

Nice read. In the end those who want it will buy it, others will have something to hate on and complain about. It won't stop others from playing a game combining 2 top fighting series. You can also expect a few articles to surface the internet about "Why Capcom's Street Fighter X Tekken is better than Namco's Tekken X Street Fighter?" when both games are released lol

Im glad that gamers is actually being given the option to choose from either Street Fighter style or tekken style fighting with a different franchise.

Imagine the amount of rage gamers would have if it was only Street Fighter X tekken only in SF style. I love tekken, but am not too familiar with SF to really appreciate the fighting style.

The concept of them both having their own title is a bit pointless look how much attention snk vs capcom got lol they should put both their resources into the one title.

Namco been going way downhill since tekken 5 imo.

The chick makes a good argument, but I'm gonna back the dude on this one. Capcom and Namco can't afford to drop the ball here, the gaming community would never forgive them.

Just because they can't afford to drop the ball doesn't mean they wont. Video games are usually always filled with good intentions -- but some are destined to fail.

Tekken vs. Capcom makes about as much sense as Eve vs. WoW -- just because they're both MMORPGs doesn't mean they should join forces.

its Tekken VS Street Fighter you freak, why would Jin want to scrap with Phoenix Wright, I will never know...

And, its a fighting game, so a crossover WILL work. You must be pretty stupid to think an MMO match-up is the equivalent of a fighter match up.

Penno2935d ago

I think the point he's trying to make is that just because the games are from the same genre, it doesn't mean they will mesh together well. Tekken and SF use completely different fighting styles.

Personally, I can't see any reason why Capcom can't pull this off. I think Namco will have a much harder time though -- I just cant see Blanka, Ryu, et al, in a Tekken game. They will look weird and control completely differently.
