IGN: PAX: Killzone 3 Move Demo Videos

Continuing from Killzone 2, players find Emperor Visari, the viscious dictator of the Helghast, dead at the feet of Sev and Rico. However this war is far from won. In the wake of Visari's death, Helghan has devolved into a world of political scheming, rapid infighting, and murder.

Looks good and accurate. A little disappointed in the Auto Aim feature, cause Move should be accurate enough to just aim for yourself, but it would be nice if they had an option to turn off the auto aim.

Chuk_Chuk4982d ago

I hope there is no auto aim for online i don't care if move players have some advantage i want it to be mathces of pure skill and not some noob who can press L1 quicker.

Bobbykotickrulesz4982d ago (Edited 4982d ago )

Auto aim?

Not cool...

ALFAxD_CENTAURO4981d ago (Edited 4981d ago )

GG enable Auto Aim for PS Move to bring the Casual Audience to make easier for them.

They said they want to bring Casual also to Killzone 3, that is why they enable the Auto aim, but I'm sure you can disable it.

8-bit4981d ago (Edited 4981d ago )

Eh, I can see the importance of the auto aim feature for single player but if they weaken it for MP that would be fine. You have to remember that everyone's favorite shooter COD even has a bit of auto aim so if it's done correctly then there is nothing to complain about. Instead of using L1 to auto lock on to some one, it should pull up your sights and when you get damn close to aiming at some one it should guide you slightly. That would be perfect.

blusoops4981d ago

I haven't seen this particular video yet but people were saying there was auto aim in socom 4 videos as well when they first came out. The funny thing is that the developer said there was absolutely no auto aim. The move is just that accurate.

Maybe that's what's happening here as well?

Chuk_Chuk4981d ago

@blusoops.
The guy in the first video confirms the presence of auto aim.

@ALFAxD_CENTAURO
Hopefully they have a Hardcore multiplayer option sort of like the hardcore mode from COD. But for Killzone 3 it would be there is no Auto aim. So the casual player can make a smooth transition.

ChronoJoe4982d ago (Edited 4982d ago )

It clearly isn't accurate enough by itself.

Well, it's accurate, but the method of moving across a 2D plane of that size is just too slow, so much slower than a controller, and obviously a mouse. So whilst move players should be able to be accurate, their responses to a threat will be much, much slower. That and the human arm or wrist can't produce as fine or controlled movement as a thumb. Mice are different as they have a surface which stabilises your arm, stopping and sway which will be present using a move controller.

Ever played one of the Wii FPS? it's EXACTLY like that if you're using Wii motion plus. Awful. Not that It won't be a fun experience for those that use it, don't get me wrong. It's just they can't compete with a DS3 without significant assists, and I'm sure it'll be fantastic in other genres.

raztad4981d ago (Edited 4981d ago )

I honestly dont think GG is putting the best MOVE implementation in place. Just for starters the bounding box is way too big. As the guy says, they want to cater a "new audience" even if that means to dumb down the experience. I really hope they learn something from Zipper. MAG looks much much smoother than KZ3. Thankfully KZ3 is not right around the corner so they have time to tune things.

Kinda off topic: A video from PAX showing off-screen KZ3 multiplayer. Looks very smooth.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

morganfell4981d ago

No, he stated you could adjust the speed of the traverse. I have played with the Move and the action is nothing like using a Wii mote. Not in the least.

People that believe you cannot reproduce fine accuracy with the wrist have only been using the Wii. When you sit down with the Move and rest your arm - the way you will be doing in lengthy multiplayer, the accuracy is astounding. The fact is with the turn rate turned up on the Move it is easier to spin rapidly and aim with out over rotating the way one often does when turning up the sensitivity on a normal controller.

ChronoJoe4981d ago

lol bullshit.

They are both 1:1 2D tracking when it comes to cursor movement. (move is 3D but this does not effect cursor movement). They perform next to the same. Show me a tech demo which shows better, IGN have tried it with MAG, their have been numerous previews with MAG even, theirs been gameplay with Socom.

You also state that resting your wrist, and turning the sensitivty up with the move is what makes the difference. Yeah, because you can't do that with the Wii mote? haha, okay.

I don't doubt the hardware though. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that motion controls simply don't fit into reactionary games. It's like asking people to play Street Fighter with Kinect. It's obviously stupid.

raztad4981d ago

@Cronojoe

The footage from the IGN guy playing MAG was total rubbish. Guy was the perfect noob, therefore I wounldnt take that footage as a proof of anything. It is a good thing MOVE comes out next week, so I can try it by myself.

I watched the KZ3 video again. It seems the bounding box is gonna be customizable. Great. Hope they keep tuning it.

Another video: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

I found them both at neogaf.

ChronoJoe4981d ago (Edited 4981d ago )

Thanks for the gameplay footage, bubbles.

Like I say, love the controller as a motion controller. Great peice of hardware, I just don't see it replacing DS3 in terms of performance within a FPS. I think that's pretty reasonable to say based on what we've seen so far.

Plus, there's about 20 different vids of mag move gameplay, not just IGNs. I've seen them all, and they're all awful.

TheGameFoxJTV4981d ago

Red steel 2 works just like this, and if you want to play it like other Controller based shooters you just have to adjust your deadzones and sensitivities. Not hard.

jack_burt0n4981d ago

The game is just so beautiful god damn, but yeah there should be a middle setting which is mouse style locked movement and prescision with a shoulder button like timesplitters and then a zoom on top of that but they said they would implement that in the options hope they do.

DigitalAnalog4981d ago (Edited 4981d ago )

It would mean the response will be faster than COD (which would defeat the purpose of the heavy aiming system). No wonder they went to the free target method. Not digging the autoaim though.

-End statement

Longrod_Von_Hugendon4982d ago

Definitely turn off the auto aim for MP.

alphakennybody4982d ago

Disappointed with the auto-aim, hopefully we can turn it off and should only be restricted to offline campaign /end rant.

Cant wait for this, just finished a game on KZ2 and its still kicking ass.

saadchohan4982d ago

Graphics and Game play looks amazing
MP . it should be DS3 vs DS3 and move vs move....they shouldn't mix both as it will be a chaos..

ElDorado4982d ago

please. Don't let Killzone 3 havo auto-aim it would ruin my life! Killzone is the ultimate first person shooter

MiamiACR4981d ago (Edited 4981d ago )

The Ultimate first person shooter? If anything that title would be closer related to Halo, in terms of how many innovative ways they changed the FPS shooter genre at least. Killzone is a good game, hell even a great one, but lets not fool ourselves that just because it's on the PS3, has decent graphics (I'm a PC gamer so they don't impress, boo hoo)and flashy gun-play that it is the ultimate FPS.

On the topic of move, everyone knew it would be like the Wiimote just more precise (By a small amount) and bright colored balls that fanboys could play with. I for one prefer the controller method by a country mile, it worked for uncharted and for killzone 2, no reason that it wouldn't work for this and should be, the preferred method of playing.

raztad4981d ago

LOL. So much hypocrisy here.

I'm not saying KZ3 is the ultimate FPS but it strike me as confusing you call yourself PC gamer only to dismiss KZ graphics. If you were a PC gamer Halo wouldnt hit you as innovative as you pretend it to be.

"everyone knew it would be like the Wiimote just more precise (By a small amount)"

LOL again. Did you already measure that "slight" edge? I understand why you have a single bubble.

mrv3214982d ago

I disagree, a good PC gamer with a low end card could beat a average PC gamer with a high end card.

I don't see this giving an unfair advantage... the turning seems the same, the only thing this could give an advantage to is moving the reticle slightly to the side.

dosgrtr4982d ago (Edited 4982d ago )

smoother than killzone 2

Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.

1Victor351d ago

Can’t wait for their next franchise

SullysCigar351d ago

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!

jznrpg351d ago

I’m with you I want Horizon 3 , Killzone and new IPs

badz149351d ago

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Vengeance1138351d ago

32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

Shane Kim351d ago

That's kind of a huge drop though. It's only been two games.

VersusDMC351d ago

One year after realease HZD sold 7.6 million.

https://www.noobfeed.com/ne...

So not a drop off.

Unless you're saying a HFW should have sold as much now as HZD sold in 5 years?

Vengeance1138351d ago

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

solideagle351d ago

lol you are comparing:

HZD: 28 February 2017 - May 2023 (6 years+)

HFW: 18 February 2022 - May 2023 (1 year+)

We will see if it surpass original number.

Phoenix76351d ago

@shane, 2 full main games, 2 DLC add ons, 1 VR spin off game, oh and a an official LEGO set.
Not too bad for an ip that's only been on market for 6 years

REDGUM351d ago

Wow, very impressive. I didn't know the numbers were so high for Forbidden West. Still playing through it myself

thesoftware730351d ago (Edited 351d ago )

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

blacktiger351d ago

thank you fps lover, I'm with you

talocaca351d ago

Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.

The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.

OzzY-waZZy351d ago (Edited 351d ago )

Kinda wish they move on from Horizon tbh.

potatoseal351d ago

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.

Imalwaysright351d ago

There were rumours that they were working on a Socom reboot.

Still looks secure 2 gens later... one of my favorite ps3 moments. With 3D and move the game is on another level

MadLad1102d ago

PC almost always ends up the best place to play games, even if it takes a while.

What would you rather play decades down the line? A game at a fixed resolution and frame, considering you have a working disc, and the hardware?
Or run it on an emulator that can update the experience all around, and let you use whatever control input you prefer?

If you insist on the former, it's really only for the sake of nostalgia.

Applejack1102d ago

I disagree. The main draw for consoles has always be the simplicity of just putting the disc in / downloading it and playing without worrying about anything else. The average person just wouldn’t want to deal with emulation even though it’s very important for preservation.

Terry_B1102d ago

Even emulators are super simple to use.

jukins1102d ago

Youre getting flak because people on here thibk of themselves as pc wizards. But honestly most poeple try and go get emulators and romz they end up with malware.. yes theyre "easy" if you know the basics but alot of people dont. That said the fact that its taken nearly 20 years to get a sustantially better experience for ps3 games than on its native system shows the complexity of getting bc to work. Sony, if they have any intention, should just invest in a vastly better psnow experience.

1102d ago
Vegamyster1102d ago

jukins

Most people who emulate don't get malware, you'd have to be going to some weird sites for that to happen, heck years ago people were getting sketchier ad's resulting in malware warning on this site if you didn't have a ad-blocker lol.

SinkingSage1102d ago

Can't get malware if you legally dump your own games, which you should.

Rachel_Alucard1102d ago (Edited 1102d ago )

That's fine if that's the main draw, but it doesn't make it a better experience, just a preference. Having the freedom to do the things you can do on PC is what the appeal of PC is. Buying a game on PC means you never have to worry about the console makers just deciding the next hardware shouldn't support the generation anymore, which means everything you bought is stuck on that hardware instead of moving up with everything else. Nintendo uses this tactic to keep reselling the same games over and over at inflated prices. Sony cut all previous gens off the PS4 and sold it back to people in a poor attempt with PSnow. While the PS5 supports PS4 games, that may not be the case in the next gen after this. No to mention shutting off all the previous stores and updates completely. Even MS stopped making new BC titles at some point, so now there's a big list with 17 pages of titles that are not playable on Xbone and are just trapped on older gen. That's not a problem on PC, the reverse happens where you only have to worry if your hardware can play the newest releases at ultra with no issue.

AzubuFrost1102d ago

Shhh don't say that aloud! You're going to trigger a lot of console infidels here.

Shane Kim1102d ago

I rather play it when it's available then wait 10 years.

MadLad1101d ago

Did you purposely miss the entire point of my post?

Inverno1102d ago

Well that's the beauty of still owning a retro console tho. Those who usually complain about emulation are just being blindly loyal to a company. Emulation is great for many reason, but if I still owned the console then I disagree nothing beats plugging it back in and going down a nostalgia trip

Top 10 PS3 Games We Hope Come Back On PS5

Resistance, Dead Space franchise, Splatterhouse, Lollipop Chainsaw, Brutal Legends, Alice Madness Returns, Enslaved Journey to the West, Mass Effect franchise. Also wouldn't mind seeing a new Wild Arms game remake or HD remaster, the Xenosaga trilogy, a new Parasite Eve, a new Dino Crisis just too many games to list that are forgotten and left in the dark now adays.

Sciurus_vulgaris1280d ago

The PS3 is difficult to emulate. PS3 backwards compatibility on PS5 would require translation from PowerPC to x86. Additionally the PS5 likely would have to mimic the PS3’s GPU and CPU.

This is what pops up on my web browser. So I can't even read the site. So, forget that. They don't need my data.

But let's get something straight. OG Xbox had around 1,001 games. How many are BC on Series X? **39** THIRTY NINE. Come on! That's wack BC. You can't tell me that's a complete list. Talking about commitment. Game preservation. Ridiculous. Covers nothing.

How many games released on Xbox 360? Around 2085. How many are BC?
568. That's it. Around 1,517 are **MISSING** Stop playing. Tired of that nonsense.

Anyway, the only games I really want from PS3 that would be awesome are Motorstorm and MGS4. I'll take BC. I'll take a remaster. I'll take a remake. If not those, then Killzone 2. And in VR, maybe Sports Champions, House of the Dead Overkill and the Time Crisis games.

That's all I need. But we've gone over BC again and again in every possible way. It wasn't that important because Sony sold 115 million consoles without it. That's proof enough with no outcry. And PS5 has damn near all 4,000+ PS4 games BC. It's not PS1,PS2 and PS3. But that's plenty. I'll take more but you get what you get.
