According to the Witcher’s Facebook Page (Way better than Twitter) They are not going to “sacrifice” the game’s development for consoles at the moment. They are simply focused on a great PC title … for now.
That's sad. Good looking game.
Why sad? It means PC gamers will be able to play it the way it was intended.
Agree, even though I don't own a gaming pc, can't blame devs for loyalty to the original fanbase.
It's a little sad, because I just don't have the funds to go out and buy a good gaming PC for a grand. Why can't someone just give me 1,000 dollars so I can buy one huh? Is that so much to ask?
You are ill informed if you believe you need 1000$ to build a gaming PC to run this game.
Exactly. Ha, my brother bought the first game, and I've wanted to play it. But, it ran like shit on my computer.. Though still continued to play it. Cause it was pretty badass.. unfortunately I was not. Lol. I died too often.
I support this. The game started on the PC and shines the best there. Would be fine to put it out on consoles after a PC release.
It's precisely the OPPOSITE of sad, in my opinion. Love the original, can't wait for the sequel, and I'm glad they're just focusing on a single platform. In my opinion it is ALWAYS good when a developer picks one platform to focus on. Don't care which platform it is, it could be PC, PS3, 360, Wii, PSP, DS, whatever they pick, it's good news for the game if they just focus on one. That's how I see it. Plus, as someone who owns every single one of those platforms for gaming, I enjoy it when exclusives come out for any system so that it increases the value of me owning that system. If a system had no exclusives, there'd be no point in owning it when you could just own one of the other platforms all its games are on, you know?
I am just happy this game is coming out for people who don't own a halfway decent gaming rig. This is a title, such as the STALKER series, that console only guys really don't know what they are missing. And now they will!
Thank God. A game that is not dumbed down because of consoles. Witcher is a great game. Witcher 2 looks better.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/... Put that in the pc that you typed your comment on and you now have a pc capable of playing basically everything at the highest IQ settings on the 720p monitor that comes with all off the shelf desktop pc's. /* ignorance
game is great but making only for pc is a bad choice for only sales wise
I agree, the game would make a killing on consoles!
They will port it to consoles after it becomes a PC hit. You can bank on that.
Maybe. I wouldn't be so sure. The first one was a pretty big hit on PC and it was intended to come out on console but then they cancelled it. I doubt they would release the second game on console but not the first.
What developer doesn't want to potentially sell double the copies?
It's probably a small studio, which probably have the resources or knowledge of console programming to make the game shine. While CD Projekt has around 300 employees, they're mainly a publishing company. The RED Studio, which developed Witcher 1 and 2 is probably relatively small.
@Persistantthug Cause 9 times out of 10 they start screwing over their fanbase, and the quality of the games. They didn't say it was never coming to consoles. Just that they're focused on the PC right now. If they had to halt the development of the game JUST to put versions out also on PS3/360, then it can definitely hamper the quality of the game. What a lot of people don't get is that time is also a resource along side of money.
I'll probably buy it on PC and PS3.
those graphics are insane.
I hope it'll come to the console, I really like the first one except the fact that it doesn't work well with the windows 7.
Then maybe you shouldn't use a pirated windows 7. Because it works great with my version of windows7. Now if you would have said vista I would have agreed with you statement.
Because he has a problem running it in Windows 7 it MUST be because he's using a pirated version. /s Don't be so quick to judge, bugs and compatibility issues don't effect everyone. For example, I have a problem with mouse stuttering in Fallout 3 with Win 7, and because not everyone has it, does that make me a pirate as well?
Sorry if I offened you. I apologize if I insult him by claiming he's running a pirated version. My bad I have mines running on windows 7 and it works with no problems. I had it running on vista when I first brought the witcher and it ran like shit.
Im running it on W7 with no problems at all. Never had any problems running it on Vista 64-bit either.
but didn't the director already confirmed pretty much its coming to ps3/xbox360 i can waite since 2011 is too jammed pack Yakuza 4,,,,Killzone 3,,,,Resistance 3,,,,LA Noire....Ratchet all 4 one....Crysis 2....Max Payne 3....Agent....Last Guardian....Motorstorm 3....The agency....Ape Escape....Batman Arkham City....Beyond Good and Evil 2....Bodycount....Brink....Rag e....Bulletstorm....The Darkness 2....DMC 5....Deus Ex: Human Revolution....Eight Days....Getaway 3....Fear 3....FF 13 Versus....FF 14 online....Homefront....I Am Alive....Infamous 2....Mass Effect 2/3....MGS Rising....The Outsider....Saints Row 3....Red Faction: Armageddon....Socom 4....Splatterhouse....Twisted Metal....Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier....True Crime: Hong Kong....Virtua Tennis....GTA 5....Uncharted 3....GT5....LBP 2....
Man, what are you smoking? Eight Days and the Getaway 3 got cancelled 3 years ago, Beyond Good and Evil will probably never come out. Mass Effect 3 wont be out till at least 2012, and Gran Turismo 5 is coming out this year. Also, GTA 5? That hasn't even been announced.
They were put on hold.
why is he even counting games we know nothing about , not even a screenshot of gameplay like "I am Alive" , anyway ?
on pc to begin with than port it over to consoles and 2012 should be a good year to come out on consoles 2011 is not just my opinion
Can't wait for this game first day buy for me!
If it doesn't the developers are doing themselves a huge injustice. Realistically, PC is a dying breed for anything other than MMOs.
lolwut? Don't be stupid. PC will be around much longer than your beloved PS3, I assure you.
It's hilarious how anybody can disagree with you on that. MS-DOS was introduced in 1982. I still play the occasional 1990 game on my Windows 7 build. You can't even play PS2 games on a PS3 Slim. To think the PS3 will somehow outlast the personal computer as a gaming platform is ludicrous.
To say that PC gaming is dying is a paradox as the statistics show that PC gaming is growing year-by-year. An increasing number of previously console-only games are also showing up on PC (of course, the reverse is also true).
still waiting for that FFVII remake buddy? don't worry, consoles will get a good modern RPG eventually
Or the Witcher 2, which was already confirmed for console release. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
They haven't found a publisher for the console version yet, so until then, it's PC only.
Diablo 3 says hi.
They have a loyal fan base on PC. The first The Witcher sold millions of copies, and that was the studio's first game.
for the new consoles as they are not willing to sacrifice visual fidelity and depth of gameplay for this current gen of consoles, it will most likely be availble on console fall 2011 when the xbox 720 and ps4 are out!! Day one PC purchase for me, bought the last one day one...oct. 30 2007, right before halloween!!
Hope the console versions are scrapped. Its not that I hate the consoles,I just think Witcher 2 needs to release with all pistons firing
It sounds harsh but it's honestly understandable. Obviously with the release of Starcraft 2 proving that PC gaming is not dead, why not keep it exclusive, I'm not familiar with this title but I would like to play it.
I hope they don't. I would hate that they took things out just to port the game to console. I truely loved the first one can't wait for this one
I have no problem with the game being ported to consoles after release, the more people who play and enjoy it, the better. Just so long as they don't comprise the PC version, and by the sound of it, they're sticking to their guns and to their original fanbase and making full use of the platform the series started on.
And it will be a better game because of this, thanks CDProjekt, kudos to sticking to your vision.
the real meaning of non linear.. :) http://www.youtube.com/watc... keep supporting PC players PC players support the devs!!
just like I bought 2 versions of the first game, the original and the enhanced edition.
THANK GOD. Good to hear a game for the PC won't be bastardsized because of consoles
i built my own gaming pc so i could play this game (among others)! i feel like a child let loose in a sweet shop with all these great games soon to be released.
I thought you wrote a child let loose in a sweat shop for a second there...I was wondering why it made you feel affraid...
sweat shop!! no that was a totally different story...i had to beat them to death with thier own shoes.
Truly amazing news. I don't care if it does come to the consoles after the PC release. I don't take $#!+ like that personal like some people do. Exclusivity for exclusivity sake means nothing to me. I am no fanboy. I am a fan of quality though and this ensures it will be an awesome PC first title.
I hate console ... I am glad to see The Witcher 2 is meant to be played in PC.
I don't know why everyone thinks you can build a sick gaming rig for less than $1000 because you cant. Especially once you factor in monitor, mouse, keyboard, and speakers. If you want a "gaming" rig, you're looking at around exactly $1000 and that doesn't include mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc. Sure you can build one for cheaper, but trust me, it's not gonna run games that well at all.
Geralt of Rivia will kick the shit out of any other gaming protagonist this gen. He will then fuck their women, and never call them. I'm a Witcher.
