BMC: Ultimately, I was a little disappointed but I've had such a great ride getting to this point. While this is the least successful of the episodes, it seems silly if you have played the first four to not play this, even if the fourth episode made for a much more successful and fulfilling ending (minus the lead into the fifth episode).

"Sam and Max Season 3, The Devil’s Playhouse Episode 5 – The City That Dares Not Sleep is as long as titles get. It’s so long in fact, that its bordering ridiculous! But then again ‘ridiculous’ has never been above Sam and Max, so that sort of behavior is not exactly discouraged around here. Typing long titles over and over is discouraged (for my own sanity), so lets just call this game The City That Dares Not Sleep."
Gaming Nexus writes: "The City That Dares Not Sleep is more than just the third season finale of Sam & Max. It's an action-packed episode that is just as funny as it is tragic. It's an episode full of surprises and a resolution that feels completely satisfying. But more than anything, this episode proves that the developers are more than capable of executing a complicated plot full of deep ideas and complex emotions. This is a company that continued to innovate with fresh ideas and exciting narrative choices. What this third season finale proves is that Telltale Games has arrived."
Eduardo writes, "I might have spoken too soon... Episode 5 is this season's funniest chapter and a great closer. We get suspense, hilarious gags, and great returning characters. At the end of the previous episode, Max was turned into a huge monster and began tearing New York apart. Meanwhile, Sam was trying to put a rescue team together in order to save his now not-so-little buddy."
