ABCs: 360 and Nintendo Magazines Up, PlayStation Decline Continues

A mixed set of results for this years' Audited Bureau of Circulation figures, as the rise of Nintendo and continued strength of 360 see considerable rises for single format magazines, counterbalanced by some significant reductions in PlayStation magazine circulations.

PC magazines including PC Gamer and PC Zone also saw declines, while key multi-format mags Edge and GamesMaster posted similar drops of around 10 per cent.

The story is too old to be commented.

When you can get all the demo's reviews and content through your console stores or off the internet im surprized to see magazine's actually going up in sales, but the wii is definitly the weakest online with no demo's or content bar the web browser.

So that might imply why just a theory

Before they are available on the marketplace. I know I bought one magazine because it had free Oblivion DLC, and another because it had the Eternal Sonata demo like a month or two before it was released on marketplace.

Edit: Why did it post this twice?

I just rather save my money, normally if the content is that great it will be available online.

I dont think ive looked at a games magazine for along while personally

The Wii just began releasing new online content in the form of the Metroid Prime 3 preview channel. No playable demos, but there are new videos released periodically. The Everybody Votes Channel can be considered online content as well, just not news-worthy.

I'm actually surprised Nintendo magazines are increasing circulation, considering that a significant portion of the Wii and DS installbase consists of casual gamers who will most likely not be interested in gaming news. Seems that the non-casual Nintendo gamer still exists in large numbers.

exactly, who needs to spend $10 on a mag when you can get all news from the web and download new demos to your console.

Well the Playstation 2 is at the end of its life cycle is why the Sells of Playstation magazines are down. Playstation 3 is still new and sells of PS magazine will not go up until the system is in more homes. Remember the PS2 sold over 100 million and it is now toward the end of its life so there is alot more percentage to play around with there. Plus more people are using the Web for Gaming news now.

I think its not the cause of the ps2 and ps3 life cycles. I think its more of the internet.

I just signed up for game informer since I got that Gamestop card. The first issue i got was full of articles that i already knew about.
