NXT Gamer: First Look at Shogun 2: Total War

NXT Gamer's Dave gives an in-depth preview of the upcoming RTS titan, Shogun 2: Total War.

"In the last hour of the two day conference and gaming showcase that is Edinburgh Interactive Festival, Creative Assembly brought attendees an exclusive look at Shogun: Total War 2, of which I was privileged to be a part of. Showing pieces of their E3 footage, Mike Simpson gave us a look at some of the new and improved sections of this behemoth sequel." (PC)

Games that make you want to go back to PC gaming? this is one. Awesome awesome experiences with the Total War series. It would be nice to have something like this on consoles.

Kessen1&2 were great strategy RTS games (K3 not so much. strayed too much in a different direction... but maybe I'm being too harsh. It was a great game) and it would be great to see a new gen version of Kessen for current gen consoles.

This game is going to be hot.

"Where the previous naval battles in Shogun 1 were “crap”, they are now equal to the land battles in terms of weight, complexity and development."

What? The original Shogun had no such thing. Coastal provinces were only used as an abstraction of troop transport by sea. You couldn't even build ships.

ETW and NTW fell a little short on expectations so hopefully third time's the charm.

I really wanted a late 19th century to late 20th century Total War. But this also looks really good, can't wait.
