Mortal Kombat's Post-Launch Balancing, Add-on Character & PC Plans

Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon says that his studio's newest fighting game is being built with better online balancing in mind, letting the developer finesse aspects of the combat after it ship—without the need for software patches.

The story is too old to be commented.

This one better be good.

mk has always been for hardcore only. :)

I am crossing my fingers that Ed Boon and his crew do as good a job on MK that Capcom did on SSFIV. I really want fighting games to make a comeback. Hopefully 2011 will be a great year for fighters. Marvel vs Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat and hopefully Dead or Alive will all make it out next year. If only Rare would bring KI out of retirement!

I cant wait to give this new MK. The only way fighting genre is going to get strong again is if every developer gives their A effort and listens to their fans. I miss Mortal Kombat of old and it appears that is what they are trying to recapture with this version. Here is to hoping they pull it off.

It was totally hardcore to see all the 9-year-olds run to the arcade so they could try all the Fatalities they read out of Gamepro. </sarcasm>

Actually I would say yes MK vs DC was hardcore. The only thing that made this game less popular was the fact that the fatalities sucked and it wasn't as much gore as the past mk games.

Whether you guys realize it or not the new mk game that is coming out has pretty much the same fight mechanics, combo system, damage over time system as MK vs DC, the only difference is the fact that the new one will be 2d and there will be more gore.

Think about it, if you were able to blow supermans head off in MK vs DC, with blood splattering everywhere, people would have loved that game.

GORO better be kick'n some ass.

Mortal Kombat rapes Street Fighter!!!

Nihilism3009d ago (Edited 3009d ago )

Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter both rape Tekken, how do you like them apples?

majority of the original Mortal Kombat 1,2 & 3 fans have moved on to PC when SEGA began to die and Mortal Kombat games began to lose their way but I will be getting it for whatever version releases first PS3 or PC, I am not getting the Xbox 360 version because the Xbox 360 Controllers D-PAD sucks for fighting games and I can not do fatalities properly with it.

Why not get a stick? You can pick them cheap online if you don't mind purchasing a used one. They are easy to mod or change parts.

I purchased one when SFIV came out and now I own 5 and counting (bidding on a 3rd right now for the 360). 2 for the 360 and 3 for the PS3. I am becming addicted to collecting them.

It took me a couple months to get use to one but now I am addicted to playing fighting games again because of them. There is nothing like playing a fighting game on a stick. Like a mouse for FPS, wheel for racing and a flight stick for flying sims. Decent learning curve if you never used one but well worth it once you adapt.

I've been playing quite a bit of emulated UMK3 lately using an xbox controller and the d-pad isn't as bad as I once thought, although sweeping motions don't really work, but it's still usable.

The madcatz SFIV controller looks pretty decent if you don't like using sticks, and works on both the 360 and PC. Plus the thought of playing a new MK with a controller that's essentially a Sega Genesis 6 button controller is too tempting to pass up.

MK on PC would be a dream come true

Nihilism3009d ago

When they announced a new MK...I thought of the insane possibility of it coming to PC...I dared not utter a word because the mention of it would be treated as those were who believed the sun to be the centre of our universe rather than the was an impossibility.

Fingers crossed. It sucks that pirate scum pirated SFIV on PC, but I bought and loved it. I bought an overpriced 360 controller just for that game. So my wallet is ready and willing for MK on PC.

Seconded, including the excessive use of exclamation marks.
