Nintendo's FAQ article on the Wii website has been updated with evidence suggesting that Wii units manufactured in 2007 have a locked away ability to play back CDs and DVDs.
....even if they do make it....you are not going to use it! well at least i wouldn't, just like i didn't used the Dvd drive in de PS2 and Xbox. unless they make some software that goes along with it and its unique
that's because you're just wierd. Adding DVD playback? What century is it again?
the wii doesnt need it
if it is true because as it is is still a rumor than I think it wouldn't matter much because many if not everybody has at least a DVD player so I wouldn't see much a difference
It is sooooooooo hard to find DVD and CD player these day. Give me a break. If they want to add Blu Ray or HD DVD then I can understand why they do that but DVD and CD. We are talking about DVD and CD here people? We are not talking about the games but we talking about DVD and CD players. See, even Alen Iverson has something to say about this.
That is if it is true, they should have added this stuff at launch/So far the PS3 just had bigger HDD.The 360 got HDMI port.So far the PS3 had all this stuff at launch.
the always do this to rip you off
Not everyone lives with their parents who actually bought a DVD player. Some people only have DVD players through their computers and game consoles. Glad to see Nintendo late to the show rather then not showing up at all. Nintendo... meet DVD.
When Nintendo quietly announced the removal of DVD playback, everyone was saying how they had a DVD player in each room. No that DVD may be coming, watch how they praise Nintendo for the added feature.
So nintendo may actually try to get tecknologically up to date with the millinium? Thats incredible because the last I heard the wii itself is incapable of running dvds, but maybe CDs since thats the center of every Home entertainment hub because its not like some invention made by an american company whose name is that of a fruit came up with a device that let you listen to music in a handheld devise and then plug it into speakers, no that would never happen. What Im trying to say is is that it can't run dvds and even if it does run cds which I already thought it did no one will buy that attachment.
how can it not run DVD's? the game discs are DVD based. The only problem is the DVD-drive turning the otherway and thats why it cant play DVD-movies.
Even if it does have DVD playback, there isn't a remote (at least that we know of) and lacking one certainly makes DVD playback near worthless.
there is no remote?.....uhm there is one , and makes it possible to point @ the screen and stuff....dont be so shallow on the creative part.
ahahahaha you've gotta be joking right? ... RIGHT!?!
@madden yes tell me in what age we live, really......because if you are going to tell me that we don't have enough DVD players lying around then i'm not the one being weird but you( yeah i know wanted to insult you really bad but neh, why should i)
Why would they lock the ability to play cd/dvd? Doesn't make any sense. I'm callin' BS
My guess for the locked DVD playability is: First, no play back software..which would add cost to the console. Second, they would have to license every Wii to play DVD's which also adds cost to the console.
