Games that haven't changed in ten years

Some games truly evolve. Prince of Persia, for instance, is now a million miles from where it started. So too, Sonic the Hedgehog and even Mario. Over the last ten years, these games have either changed tack totally, or shaken up the basic gameplay elements and crafted a similar yet far-removed experience. Some other games... haven't.

Yeah if the DS versions of Pokemon are already past the 5 millon mark I don't think it needs any changing. That sounds like a pretty secure mode of play. Metal Slug I always enjoyed and hated all at the same time(why do I keep dying!!!)

As they say, "gon't fix what ain't broken." I'm not a fan of all those games, but the classic worked.

I really have to wonder why Zelda is on there. If I recall, Ocarina of time came out in '98, so 9 years ago. 10 years ago, Link was still fighting on the SNES only, and the change to 3D was a huge change in the series.

I would call Ocarina of Time a change, anyway. I'll agree agree Zelda hasn't changed much in 10 years...next year.

And books and movies have?

Stories may change but pretty much the stuff surrounding the plot are still the same.

How many children witch/sorcerer books have been written?

How many Cop movies have been made?

Everything has a genre its not the similarities that is important its the differences and how it affects us.

That is what makes a Great Storyteller. Taking the same old ideas like nature, people, cops and robbers, mafia, robots, aliens, religion, or whatever and write a story that touches somebody.

Very rarely will you find a story or game that absolutely brand new material that hasn't been done before. There will always be something or somewhere the book, movie, game will fit categorically.

If we wanted to we could say the Books and Movies haven't changed in years.

Heck, even in the Sci-fiction category we really don't see any new ideas of what the future is like that surprises us or shocks us beyond belief - at least like it was during Star Wars and Star Trek. Now if someone was watching those shows its not the Science Fiction part that they are watching its the story ( the special effects and technology isn't that impressive by today standards)

Music is this way also. I guess if we were to follow the title above to the letter we wouldn't be Listening, watching, or reading anything for enjoyment.
