Nvidia Renders Record Results

Graphics technology firm Nvidia posted record sales and net income for its fiscal Q2, driven by a growing need for 3D processing capabilities.

For the quarter ended July 29, Santa Clara, Calif.-based Nvidia posted record sales of $935.3 million, a 36 percent increase over the $687.5 million in revenue for the comparable period a year ago.

Nvidia president and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said in a statement, "Our ongoing strategy to extend the reach of the GPU is paying off. There is a fast-growing universe of applications that rely on the processing capability of the GPU, from 3D design and styling tools, video and photo editing software, 3D maps, and video games, to the user interfaces of the Mac and Vista."
