Best Buy flubs Rock Band preorders, cancels on excited fans

Jonathan Gitlin of ArsTechnica reports:
"The thoroughly addictive Guitar Hero, a particular favorite here at Ars, has helped Activision post some rather spectacular profits. EA, normally known for derivative franchise games such as the terrible NASCAR sim, doesn't want to give up without a fight, though, and its rival to the Guitar Hero series, Rock Band, is due out later this year.

Like Guitar Hero, Rock Band will let you play guitar. Unlike Guitar Hero, Rock Band will also let you play drums, bass, and sing; there's even a cowbell. Of course, each one of those will mean a separate peripheral, and that means even more money for EA. Earlier this year, Ben covered the predicted cost of a Rock Band set up: $300. You can therefore imagine my surprise when Best Buy advertised the game for preorder earlier this week at the low, low, price of $60." (PS3, Rock Band, Wii, Xbox 360)
