Would Monster Hunter 3(Tri) Have Sold Better on the PS3?

Monster Hunter 3(Tri) was originally planned for the PS3 but Capcom scrapped that idea in favor of developing the game for the Wii. The company cited that the move was due to the PS3’s “high development costs” at the time. Previous Monster Hunter titles were exclusive to the PS2 so this announcement took some by surprise. Has that decision paid off for Capcom? (Capcom, Monster Hunter Tri, PS3, PSP, Wii)
