Prince of Persia movie director says games can't do drama, hates that his son plays

CVG: Let's be clear - for Hollywood, video games change everything. Of course they do. I have a 14-year-old son, he's a bright kid, he goes to a good school, and what he does for at least 45 minutes every night is he gets online and he kills people in various scenarios and various parts of the world.

'Hello Billy, where are you tonight?'

'Erm, Borneo.'

'Oh. Is that where palm trees are?'

'Yep.'

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Tell him to play MGS or something. It's not video games fault that he doesn't know how to play. PoP movie was below average anyway.

WildArmed5010d ago

lol yeah.
Buy your kid something else other than..
CoD4
CoD WaW
Modern Warefare 2
(and I know he already pre-ordered Black Ops for his kid too!)

And for the record, some games offer more immersion and drama (etc) than most movies out there.
It's insulting to see how prematurely people look at the video gaming industry..
(I just hope they don't know of N4G, then they would have a justified reason to call the video game industry pre-mature LOL )

PoSTedUP5010d ago

somebody take heavyRain and smack this dude in the face with the game case. "here ya go mr movie director maybe you can learn a thing or 2" *smack!*

RedDead5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

The top movies only equal the top games in my opinion. Every Edit(woops I mean medium) has it's master piece. This fella is just Bsing about stuff he's not even into. It's like somebody comparing the Lord of the rings books to the movies when he hasn't even read the books. sigh..oh well.

cranium5009d ago

His son is obviously a hardcore CoD player. Maybe he wouldn't think this about games if his son bothered to play actual good immersive games. I'm guessing his whole knowledge of the industry is from his son.

Nate-Dog5010d ago

This. Don't rip on something you clearly don't have a clue about.

WhatARump5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

Prince of Persia, for a game to film type movie, wasn't too terrible. Not as bad as some other game to movie transitions o.o

RedDead5010d ago

Yeah that's why I said below average, it was below average in everything except the action was just above average. Overall a below average movie, I would rather play an average game than watch his movie though. Jesus am I even making sense?

Soldierone5009d ago (Edited 5009d ago )

@whatarump, completely agree with you! The movie was boring in comparison to the game, and Id rather play the game for the story than to sit through his movie again. Talk about immmersion, the game did it WAY better.

Not saying his films suck, but they are boring and the same thing over and over again with a new title and new character portraying the same thing. Maybe he should tighten up his "skills" before trying to say an entire industry cant keep up with him. I dont see anything the caliber of Heavy Rain or Metal Gear coming from him movie wise, not even close.

inception1235010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

bioshock 1 and 2, uc 1 and 2, me 1 and 2, alan wake, heavy rain, gow franchise, the mgs franchise and many more all are better then his movie so he shouldn't be talking.

hay5010d ago

And it isn't end of the list :D

Dipso5010d ago

"Games can't do dram"?? Well he really should concede that they have quite a lot in common with Jerry Bruckheimer movies so, his own J.B financed directorial dross included.

OhReginald5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

take a beloved franchise. Rape it by making a horrible film out of it. Then rip on gaming, and hates his son for playing them.

Uwe boll is on the same boat but at least he makes fun out of his work.

XxBarretxX5010d ago

The movie was pretty good actually.

KillerPwned5010d ago (Edited 5010d ago )

I wanna punch this man in the face for showing his stupidy to us it angers me.

Your movie sucked dude end of story.

Paying Extra For Early Access Cannot Be The Industry Norm

Charging for early access has started to become a regular practice in several AAA games, and the gaming community should not tolerate this.

CrimsonWing6954m ago

Don’t uh… don’t pay for it then? 🤷‍♂️ It’s 3 days early, let people who can’t wait pony up to pay for early access. I’d hope people have more control over themselves if they don’t want to pay extra. I personally, do not see an issue with the option. If I’m hyped for a game and they give you early access, I’ll pay. If it’s something I can wait to play on “actual release” I won’t pay extra. It’s as simple as that.

Crows9049m ago

Except your entirely mistaken if you think it's "early access"

Theyre just charging you extra to play it on release. So gullible.

Crows9050m ago

It's not early access...it's playing on release...early access is when the game isn't finished and needs a little more time...you also get it months in advance.

Let's not get confused here..

VersusDMC26m ago

Microsoft has been doing premium edition early access for awhile(Forza and Starfield recently) ...so why is it an issue now when Ubisoft does it?

It can't be the gamepass excuse as Ubisoft has day one subscriptions as well.

Star Wars Outlaws Jabba the Hutt Mission Can Only Be Access via Season Pass

There is a Star Wars Outlaws mission featuring Jabba the Hutt that's available on day one but exclusive to Season Pass owners.

Not defending Ubi. It's a crappy thing to do. But it's only one Hutt mission. There are other Hutt missions.

monkey6021h ago

No matter how good this game turns out to be, it is a wait for a deep sale purchase for me.

anast35m ago

UBI games are so heavily monetized that it's tough to buy their games day 1.

CrimsonWing6951m ago(Edited 50m ago)

Vote with your wallet. The only reason they do this is to get extra money and it appears that it works. If the game is good, I’ll shell out some extra money and buy it. If the game sucks I won’t even bother. You can save up money and buy it, wait for a sale and buy it, or don’t pay at all and enjoy your life. You got options.
