California Video Game Law Terminated

California's video game violence law never went into effect and it never will. Although it was signed by Governor Schwarzenegger, the video game industry sued and it was preliminarily halted. Today the judge's final ruling has made the injunction permanent.

California Assemblyman Leland Yee's bill sought to restrict the sale or rental to anyone under the age of 18 of computer and video games that are classified as "violent video games" if the depictions of violence in the games are offensive to the community or if the violence depicted is committed in an "especially heinous, cruel, or depraved" manner.
