MS Dismisses 'Major Design Flaw' Reports

Microsoft has responded to an experts' evaluation of the Xbox 360's heat problems, in which a major design flaw is claimed.

The evaluation, carried out by Japanese news source Nikkei, had a thermo design expert analyze the 360's heat radiation system. The test found that a flaw in Xbox 360's design means that it could achieve temperatures of over 100 degrees in the summer (that's hot enough to make a cup of tea).

Responding to the report, a Microsoft spokesperson told CVG, "There is no single root cause or systemic issue with any of the Xbox 360 consoles."

As long as they fix the damn thing I don't care if they admit anything or not.

...to say that there were MAJOR design flaws is ludicrous, and I can understand why MS dismisses this notion whole-heartedly...

.....I mean c'mon, ya know...things break. =]

..this just goes to show the everyday usefulness of the 360. I wish I could make tea w/ my PS3's...Mmmmm tea and crumpets with a dash of Motorstorm. [outrageous sarcasm]

I hate to say it, but the 360 is nothing but outsourced space junk, and yes they are fixing them after the fact, but the reputation remains.

tehcellownu3453d ago

its to late to fixed it..11 million people have defective console at home just like u..lol

jinn3453d ago

like they say, first is the worst

I have a 360 and love it and have been lucky enough not to have a problem. There is a problem with at least a portion/batch of 360s, period. Just own up to it.

I have a suggestion for MS. I'm an MCSE. Why not create a MCXT (Microsoft Certified XBox Tech)? I'll gladly sign up, become certified, and take some of the "heat" off of the repair/warranty repair facility and test new hardware/software. I'll call the issue whatever they want me to call it. :~)

...end of line...

SofaKingReetodded3453d ago

they shrunk the size of the heatsink on the GPU in order to fit the DVD drive over it.

that's not design flaw, that's design stupidity and no amount of certified tech's is gonna fix it.

Do you see the smilie face at the end of the comment? It means I'm joking. Just a little dig. A funny. ...but if I have to explain it, it's probably lost anyway.

redmamoth3453d ago

... as they are still in 'de nile'..

dantesparda3453d ago

LOL, that's was funny. MS is slimy, real snakey. Sorry, but its what i think of them cuz of this sh!t.

"There is no single root cause or systemic issue with any of the Xbox 360 consoles."

What a joke. If there is no single root cause (like heat) then the only explanation is that the 360 is a complete piece of trash as far as hardware quality goes. MS just shoot his own foot with this declaration.

I hope they solve the problems with the Falcon, really. And it would be nice of them to put their act together and admit the problem to their consumers.

aiphanes3453d ago

They just do not want to admit to it.

Unless they come out with a totally redesigned motherboard...then why would anybody buy the xbox 360? They are now saying it is at least 6 weeks turnaround for repairs if you get the RROD!

They are still saling xbox 360s that have manufacturing dates that are 1 year old!

Remember the 3 year warranty only covers RROD....the 1 year warranty covers everything else.

Microsoft needs to get the redesigned xbox 360 out there and tell the people it is out there if they expect to increase sales.
