Namco And Playstation Move Bring Life Back Into Light Gun Games

Torrence Davis of The BitBag writes, "One of the greatest accessories of the PS1/Sega Saturn generation was the light gun. It worked by triggering your tv to send a signal light back to the gun with information on the location you just targeted. It was simple, affordable tech that allowed us to enjoy games like Duck Hunt and Virtua Cop like we did in the arcades. With the advent of the LCD tv, all light gun technology was obsolesced. All of my games for PS1, PS2, Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast that used this technology would no longer work. Namco had to develop a special version of the tech to work with LCD’s and used this in the Guncon 3 with Time Crisis 4."

you know what im not big on motion sensing games... but I do think the light gun games are fun... and with these controllers and the attachments they make I am excited to see what game they might make.... maybe take some of those Resident Evil light gun games from the Wii over.

I like light gun games and I use an attachment that makes the wiimote look like a 45. Really adds to the fun of playing HoD games.

Surprised Namco didnt come out with any of their gun games on the wii but no matter. Sikbeta said it best. If they make a compilation for use with the move, I am all over that.

I would definitely pick up House of the Dead OVERKILL in HD!!!!

As long as the keep the sweet grindhouse vibe, and either make it a PSN game or only $20. It is only like 2 hours long, but super fun.

I am really wanting a good 3D 60frames rail shooter, with al kinds of crap flying out of the screen and tons of explosions.

Also, I wonder if we will get Resident Evil Chronicles series or Archives on PS3 now.

Sony brings back the ol' GunCon Point Blank series and it's a wrap..I will run to Gamestop and buy Move...

PoSTedUP2734d ago

im glad you brought that one up, i talk about it all the time, it was the best gun controller game and it was on the ps1. ah Point Blank...

i would do anything to bring back that game.

EVILDEAD3602734d ago

Yup...the original is still untouched two generations later..If they did a collection on PSN I would do backflips out of the window..while they are at a Silent scope collection too

blumatt2734d ago

yess2734d ago

Two for dualwield;-)

OOG2734d ago

John Woo style FTW!!!

DelbertGrady2734d ago (Edited 2734d ago )

Gamespot gave it a solid 5.5/10, GameInformer went as high as 4.25/10 and 1UP awarded it a D/A(35/100). Metacritic score of 60.

It's certainly looking stellar!

@Below - It never gets old. Pew pew pew!

ToastyMcNibbles2734d ago

Karooo2734d ago (Edited 2734d ago )

n4gno2734d ago

Crysis yes, but point blank is more than arcade, it one of the best competitive gameplay ever (and was really accurate with namco gun, unlike sega gun)

Seems the MOVE may get a little expensive with some of the gadgets you'll buy to make some of the games enjoyable. But, you wont need them either, just for more fun I guess.

I'm not a motion player so its all terrible in the end. The last light gun game I played was House of the Dead on the Dreamcast.

sikbeta2734d ago

PlayStation Move Fits any kind of Game...

This device will be Huge...

alphakennybody2734d ago (Edited 2734d ago )

light guns are the ultimate party games, pure fun even if you're not a shooter fan.

GeoramA2734d ago (Edited 2734d ago )

Hope Sega brings HotD: Overkill to Move.

It's my favorite Wii game by far, but it would be so much better in HD and with more precise controls.

ocnkng2734d ago

party game with two or more controllers and gun attachments. Gosh I missed running out of coins in arcade so much! No such problems for me anymore come this fall.
