Announced? It's been detailed on Amazon.com for more than a month now.

Either way, I have mine pre-ordered as well as the PS3 version of the game.

@Below: No collector's edition, per se, but a standard release for the PS3 called the Hero Edition. No info on if it will include more than just the game, doesn't seem likely since it's priced for the usual PS3 game price. All versions will include 30 days of free play.

There is a pre-order deal for all versions from Amazon.com though.

Pre-order "DC Universe Online" and receive a code to unlock two exclusives--Play as Batman in a two-on-two arena battle and wield the power of the Amazonian Gauntlets, an exclusive in-game weapon. The code will be e-mailed within ten business days after the game releases. Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time.

I want to get into the beta, either platform! I'm not fussed. Would like the PS3 version though as it'd be my first console MMO ever.

If Plus members don't get some kind of monthly discount or discounted lifetime subscription, this game is dead to me. And that saddens me.

You can pretty much guarantee they won't. This is the same price people pay to play WoW. The money goes towards the very high costs of keeping servers up and running and ongoing development. Most MMOs are not as profitable as most people think as well. DCU is going in with a much higher cost to develop than 99% of the games put out on the 360 and PS3 and will spend at least the first year making back that initial investment.

Thanks for the information cgoodno. As naive as it sounds, I didn't even consider the servers costs, let alone the MMO factor. Still, the monthly fee is a barrier for me.
