Spider-Man 3 on Blu-ray, DVD and UMD in October

Sony today said that it will be releasing Spider-Man 3, which is estimated to have raked in $888 million so far, on Blu-ray, DVD and UMD on October 30. Besides the standard versions of the movie, Sony will be selling a two-disc Special Edition as well as a three-pack, which will include Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 and com in – you guessed it – "collectible" O-Ring packaging.

The single-disc version will be priced at $28.97 (DVD, UMD), the two disc version will be priced at $36.95 (DVD) and $49.95 (Blu-ray) and the 3-pack will carry a suggested retail price of $38.96 (DVD) and $98.95 (Blu-ray).

man i just use my hdmi 1080i upscale dvd played on my hdtv , why spend all the money for bluray

@1.1 Because "Upscaled" isn't high definition whereas Bluray is high definition. Some people including myself want to be able to see the film at its best quality for picture and for sound. The DVD won't have a 7.1 uncompressed PCM soundtrack.

If you don't know the difference between upscaling and actual High Definition, don't even post in this one.

I agree however, 1080i on a 32" display, sitting from a couple of meters back doesn't offer much advantage for HD over upscaled DVD. Yes there is an improvement but not one worth spending $2,999 (NZD) on a dedicated player.

I could only recommend HD playback if you have a true 1080p resolution display or your screen size is 42" and above.

read Guidelines plz guys , I expect more from u ...

"Though most of the news on N4G is directly game related it doesn’t necessarily have to be. A news story about a new technology for use in HDTVs is not directly related to video games but would still be of interest to many gamers. The Tech category would be fitting for this story."

IT DOESNT mean JUST tech , the main word is :

"not directly related to video games but would still be of interest to many gamers "

so stop report with that reason.. its my response :)

tonsoffun3550d ago (Edited 3550d ago )

I agree, but is a blu ray movie classed as new tech?

No it isn't I'm afraid.

you are paraphrasing to suit your needs:

"Though most of the news on N4G is directly game related it doesn’t necessarily have to be. A news story about a new technology for use in HDTVs is not directly related to video games but would still be of interest to many gamers. The Tech category would be fitting for this story.'

See the bit where it says about "a news story about a new technology" ? New movie releases do not fit into that category - no matter which way you try to spin it.

may be Blu-ray doesnt mean PS3.. but UMD is related ONLY TO PSP..

I guess its an intresting news for gamers.. becuz its 110 degree in pending section.. so plz approve it.. :)
