1UP polled its Network editors for reactions to the delay and what it means for the industry...
It was refreshing to read those opinions... a breath from stupid/dumb fanboy posts. :)
I for one am glad it is delayed...for one it gives time to save up money and two i think it will be a better game in the end. however, i don't like the one guy saying it is because of ps3 and the other saying it is because of 360 hdd. i just think hat there is such high expections of the game and rock* doesn't wana letdown anyone. ....on a seprate note...we all know no hard drive was gonna bite us in the a*s...i think ms has shot itself in the foot
basically repeating the same rumors as everyone else. well in case it was well written and I do agree that the delay will allow smaller games on x360 and PS3 a time to shine, so in that regard the delay was a good thing.
I played Halo 2, i got half way through it and stopped playing it because i was bored of it, good game, nothing unreal. i mean i here MS fanboys go we got halo, if someone with a PS3 wanted to play halo they would have got a radiator 180, but no they got a PS3, which they paid $200 more for, that's stating something PS3 is a much better looking console; it basically is a better console.
I was a little disappointed when I started but towards the end things started picking pace only to go straight down the cliff in the end, gameplay was always fun
You got it the other way around my friend. Who knows if it affects PS3 or 360 more. But as you XBOX 360 fans have told us for a while, how much of a console pusher is GTA IV for PS3 when it will also appear on the cheaper XBOX 360 with exclusive content? Many predicted that 2007 was XBOX 360's perfect storm with both Halo, GTA, and a cheaper price tag. It was gonna make PS2 fans jump to XBOX 360. Who knows maybe that won't happen now that you only have Halo this year. Those same people also say 2008 is when PS3 will have a better year and it won't hurt if that's when people who buy a console just for GTA IV, have to make their choice. In the end the game is multi platform so I kinda take it out of the equation. I don't really think anyone benefits from the delay. But I think both sides can make an argument. Your comment on the whole double F* you to Sony, probably wasn’t needed.
come on that is just spamm one post pleases
whoa what happened Lorenzferus?
His browser somehow froze (it happens to me occasionally in this site) after clicking on the "submit" button and tried it again another three times, hoping it would work. He was probably in a hurry, got off the computer, and never realized his post showed up like four times. I'm not discounting the possibility that he did it intentionally, but before we start putting on our "holier-than-thou" caps, we should at least give him the benefit of a doubt.
Is it just me or did the EGM guy just use the whole thing to dis Sony? That little Weazle Crispin in particular. I guess they are having no problems lately wearing there allegences on their sleeves. Its one thing for fanboys to do it, but for a multiformat magazine its kinda sad. No wonder I haven't read that trash in 5 years.
Wow, a voice of reason in the 1up/egm Xbox camp, thats a novel approach: "Patrick Klepek, 1UP News Editor When Rockstar boldly announced the release date for GTA IV over a year ago, I was already suspicious whether the company could honestly meet those expectations -- and it turns out they haven't. I doubt that decision did not come lightly, as it's going to greatly impact Take-Two's bottom line, but it appears technical constraints may have been at work here. Whether that's due to the PlayStation 3 version falling behind -- the game's only been demo'ed on Xbox 360 -- or difficulties getting the game to run hard drive-less on 360, we don't know, but the game's moving back a number of months, either way." 100% my thought. A premature releasedate announcement that could not be met. And someone else on the page added that the last demo he saw at E3'ish was still full of placeholders and "something will come here later" stuff. Sounds the October release was just a tiny bit overambitious. Can't blame R* for trying though. Bettter to try for an deadline to finish then to Daikatana the game :p Hopefully the 6 month of extra dev time will make the game really good.
For someone debating on which version of the game to buy (360 or PS3), I just wonder how this delay will impact the exclusive content agreement with MS. The way I see it, one episode was supposed to come out in March 2008 then another TBD, right? With the game being pushed back to 2008, that means either A) the first new content won't drop until late 08 or early 09 or B) they will both come out in 09. Now, with MS tendency to introduce new hardware in the 4-5 year range that puts the new content at the tale end of the 360s life cycle. I just wonder how much of an impact that will have in helping folks make a decision in which version to get knowing that, "hey I can get the 360 version with the promise of EC but, oh wait, the new xbox will most likely be out by the time it hits, so I'll get that instead." (obviously fanboys of each console will get the version that suits them). Moreover, by the time the content hits, there is more likely to be even better games out on the 360 that make people "forget" about the GTA EC.(Prototype (multi) comes to mind and Infamous for the PS3) I gotta wonder if this was a smart thing MS did in buying the EC, particularly now with the delay because, for all intent and purpose, it puts both versions on equal ground. Oh, well, I've got months to decide on which version to buy. Hopefully, a solid date on the EC will come and that'll make the decision easier.
this allows more time to reevaluate any minor/major problems such as glitches, graphics, sound effects, and the story itself. we could expect the game to be further developed than the two previous trailers that we've seen so far.
I think making next gen game is little different. Next gen is more details and will take longer to make...
