Some franchises, it seems, were never destined for 3D. Take Mega Man, for example, a character who will go down in the pantheon of 2D platforming history, but can't seem to make the simple jump to 3D without falling flat on his face. Continuing the blue theme, Sonic the Hedgehog is another character who – on more than a few occasions – has proved that he can't handle running around in three dimensions without throwing up and choking on his own vomit. The Castlevania series has also had a turbulent relationship with 3D, and after the travesty that was Legacy of Darkness, it seems the pair had gone their separate ways. With a little help from a certain Hideo Kojima, David Cox and the Mercury Steam team are looking to reunite the couple in the form of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
