Capcom's Hiroyuki Kobayashi took questions in a recent interview talking about the PS3 development and the decision to go multi-platform with Devil May Cry 4.
Programming difficulty is based on experience.
That's only true up to a point. Even a seasoned developer will tell you it's much easier to write software in C++ than in assembly language.
Ha Ha you see when you have a seasoned veteran developer who you know makes amazing games tells everyone that the PS3 actually is quite fine to work with. Take that all you lazy developers who cry and cry about how they find it so difficult to make a game for the PS3.
LOL. I haven't seen them whine since the launch date so I guess they (devs) pretty much understand how this Cell technology works by now. (It'll be sad if they didn't)
Once they learn, I'm sure it's easy.
was strictly strategic. You want more people buying your title. I would have done the same thing. Anyway, if its easier for them to develope, great! We won't see as much delays in the future for PS3 versions. They can truly parallel develop the titles.
What he he said.
I agree with the sajj316 guy. What he said!
Reminds me of that game, fatal inertia. The developers say they are having difficulties with the ps3. As if that game looked appealing at all.
they were not ONLY having trouble with the PS3 but also the Unreal Engine. And just because a developers cannot make their games on the PS3 doesn't make their game non-appealing.
It did look unappealing. The environments didnt look that WOW.
alright if it's easy where are all the capcom games?there has not yet a single capcom game in any form on the ps3. could he be talking about dmc4? does capcom have something instore for the ps3?
there has not yet a single capcom game in any form on the ps3.
isnt capcom still saying they are not going to implement the six axis in any of their PS3 titles? until they get there act together and really show SONY supporters some love Im not getting back on the capcom bandwagon. I played and loved all the DMC games on PS2, still had them until I gave it away whenI bought my PS3 and DMC4 was one of the reasons I psyched for getting it. Multiplatform was no big deal for me, but then I hear no six axis plans from capcom, that capcom felt "it was put there becuase sony just wanted to be different" "American developers only care about money" this right after there multiplatform deal with DMC4 sould come across as a bit hypicritical "No DMC4 demo for PS3" this is what truley pisses me off, I dont care if the 360 has a bigger instal base, they dev'd the game originally on PS3, all the boths in Japan just a couple months ago had DMC4 playable on PS3's. So clearly there IS a functional demo that we could get to play if capcom actually put some effort into giving their die hard DMC fans somthing back for investing in that franchise. dont get me wrong, Im sure DMC4 will do great on 360 but myself along with how many former PS2 owners who bought the DMC games even DMC2 when it sucked arse feel left out here? ok sry folks end rant
Ps3 exclusive lol, Hahaha joke...
and then sony will lose it...like many other games..to the 360 :)
As nice as it would be if it were, the trailer is on the xbox live marketplace, which only means that it's coming to the 360 too.
its probaly not that its hard to program, but with 25 even 50gigs of shizniz to import its easier to make a crappy port on 360
Sounds like devs are finally starting to understand how to work with cell.
This artical is crap, of course it easier to work with the ps3, its been out a year, it wouldnt get harder would it lol. Cant wait for heavenly sword great game i loved the demo.
This jackass is calling you guys out.
They need to make up there minds
Going multiplat is definitely going to degrade the quality and ruin the hardcore aspect of this game. Not a good thing for the game's fans but yeah more people will buy it and Capcom will make more money.
till developers using full potential of every system, but usually they don`t do that. That`s why gamers don`t like, when games going multiplatform. =) They want best, maximum experience they can get, not just a game, that runs ok on both systems.
Well, at least its nice to hear a Studio not criticizing PS3 developement. But really, if anything, PS2 was the hardest piece of hardware to program for (A friend of mine is a game programmer for PC and PS2...).
I don't think it was all about money guys. I can't lie and say that's not what their looking at. But as game developers, you're artists as well. If I was an artist I would want as many people to see my work as possible. They don't look at it from our perspective of some hardcore gamer who will get mad about it. They're merely saying "Hey we can make some more money, bring in new customers and expand our outreach to more people by letting them play this game as well" It might make you mad but in a business and artist perspective it makes sense for Capcom.
PS3 is alot easier to program for than the PS2 when it first started, and now everyone can program the PS2 easily, I dont forsee any difficulties in the future.
I dont care what it comes out on i will wont be getting this game now!
PS3 sell is starting to pick up...I am sure a lot developers will come out of the hole and express how they love PS3... oh oh me love you long timmmeee..
And its gonna be a huge flop sale-wise on x360,mark my words. All the DMC fanbase is with PS, nothing more. this multi is just to make a quick buck, nothing less.
