IGN: Guild Wars 2: The Ranger

Following the reveal last week that Guild Wars 2 would not contain a dedicated healing class, this week, the folks at ArenaNet are showcasing the third confirmed class for their increasingly incredible sounding MMO, the Ranger. Like the Warrior and the Elementalist before it, the Ranger is making its return to Tyria after debuting in the original Guild Wars, but the class is bringing some surprises with it.

And I like how there are to be no healing-specific classes in the game. Gets rid of the whole tank/ DPS/ healer WOW combo that we see far, far too often. Sounds like players will have to be a little more intelligent and reliant on their own skills instead of just falling into a "role".

Versatility is always a plus. The more I hear of this game, the more I am convinced this will be the MMO of the decade (for me, at least). NCSoft may have buggered up Aion, but this is a totally different development team and ArenaNet is brilliant. The original GW had 5 million users back in 2008 ( so I wonder what count they're up to now. I think it's the only game to stand up to WOW and hold it's own (while presenting an entirely different model and aesthetic and not just being a clone). GW2 can't come soon enough.

Yea ArenaNet =/= NCSoft, seems like anything NCSoft devs brings over from Korean remains a ridiculous grindfest.

I'm really looking forward to this, it seems like everything I complained about in the first is being improved upon in the second.

Hopefully its out soon, but I don't think thats going to happen.
