Gameplaybook discusses the pros and cons of the forthcoming version of Forza Motorsport for the Kinect. Will it be for better, or for worse?
Neither, people won`t use it to play it for more than a couple races. Turn 10 themselves said "it`s not for the hardcore players" Are people still hanging on to the illusion Kinect can do gas pedals? Would you wanta pretend your foot is a gas pedal? It would probably be uncomfortable, resting your foot on thin air, LOL.
I want that. Let me just break my ankles and put them in some casts to make it easier to rest my feet in thin air. Now the question is how to move them forward and backward for accelerating and deccelerating. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have gone and broken the ankles first....
No have to keep saying Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Brake, Brake, Brake, Brake, Slowly Accelerate, Slowly Accelerate, Slowly Accelerate, Slowly Accelerate, Slowly Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate, Accelerate. Now time for Turn 2, LOL.
The title poses a question that seems rather silly. You take everything away and question if it'll be diminished?
yet some people playing rockband or guitar hero world tour play the drums with there feet, and they seem fine
Its not fictionary though. There is actually a 'controller' under your foot that you press on.
Yeah, that's what we were thinking. Anyway, it'll be big with the casual racers at least. I'm sure the hardcore will want a steering wheel. :D
That`s what I`m saying, having a Racing wheel would be more comfortable and more effective. Racing is about shaving seconds, right? I`m not gonna be racing online with something that`s gonna hinder me and make it harder.
"After a strong showing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo"...Imust have been watching a different E3.
That stage demo was prerecorded. You could watch the guy struggling to try an follow the animations he was supposed to be doing. The Forza demo was completely fake.
The sad thing is even if it was fake and pre-recorded, it still looks pathetic.
Well, it was strong for Microsoft. Will fix. :D
If they add it into the traditional Forza's it cant hurt as long as it doesnt replace any of the current control schemes (which it wouldnt), but I dont expect any serious driving fans to use it for actual gameplay. But it might add some nice little touches away from the that. The kinect version isnt aimed at the hardcore anyway, shocking I know, a kinect game not built for the hardcore.
Yeah, but considering it has a hardcore following with its players, they're gonna find it hard to ignore. Even if it does irk them a little bit.
People will use this about as much as people used the motion steering sixaxis in the ps3's controller. In other words, they won't use it. And you can't even accelerate or brake with kinect
But I use my sixaxis on quite a few games. Motorstorm and Heavy Rain for example.
Yeah, the lack of pedals just doesn't make the driving experience that much better with Kinect, I think. Still, some people won't get enough of it...
It's only being used for one mode that involves how many cars you can pass in a given time, and accelerating/braking will likely be done by the engine which is already in Forza 3 for casual players. Kinect isn't replacing the control for the normal game.
then what do you call accelerating / breaking being done by the engine? don't players CONTROL those in Forza usually? *smh* face it, Kinect + Forza = casual junk that will get boring after the novelty wears off
if you had of played Forza 3 before, which you clearly havent, you would know that one of the options is for the game to control the accelerating/braking for you. its one of the many options in there to make the game easier for beginners, along with steering assist, no damage, etc. so to reiterate - you can play Forza 3 RIGHT NOW without having to worry about accelerating/braking, the game takes care of it all for you. all Kinect is doing is replacing the steering with motion control in that mode. will it diminish forza? not at all, since its not taking anything away. will it improve it? yep, because its an extra being added to the game that is, quite frankly, pretty cool. will i use it? sure, once or twice. will i use it to do my career in forza? hell no. but having the OPTION of using it is always a good thing.
How do you accelerate? how do you brake? what happened to steering resistance
I bought my G27 for a reason: there is no substitute for a wheel, gearbox and pedals for any racing game, for any system or console. Period.
It won't as long as it's optional.
kinect will not work for forza.. only a stering whell. maybe a mario sort of game will work.. but if they made a porn sort of type game/interactial movie to kinect i will be on. :) buing the hole sh!t
it's why the larger community looks forward to games like GT5 over forza.even if it is a decent alternative. either you are into car racing or you are not.adding all this hand holding just weakens the product. *rewinding and cheating yourself the experience of loss?hand holding. *letting the game drive for you as you just turn left and right looking at the cars drive by?hand holding. what's next?you just buy the game and just watch the video replays of races for just $60 dollars.no playing the game needed. the point of video games is to play, adapt to the controls and try to win.but if the game is making it easy for you to win ALL THE TIME,what's the point?as i said in another thread,do you play games or do you want the game to play for you? adding a controllerless feature and just using your hands is just not pushing your abilities to get better.real race car drivers would not want their cars driving for them.and real gamers wouldn't either.trying to get casuals to jump in is admirable.but it defeats the purpose of gaming.sometimes you win.sometimes you lose. it's just like kids playing soccer/football.everyone doesn't win but everyone gets ribbons and trophies.even when you lose.if you don't learn LOSS in a game, where are you supposed to learn it?
Forza is a full on simulation racer? That's news to me.
The rewind feature is only available in single player. It is at the player's discretion to use or not use a feature like that. Everyone knows the real racing is done against human opponents where there is no rewind feature available. The rest is just practice. I don't get why a feature like rewind gets so much hate.
"I don't get why a feature like rewind gets so much hate." because its in Forza, and Forza isnt on the PS3. thats why. if it was in GT5 though, itd be the greatest thing since sliced bread.
No, it would still be utter shit even if it was a feature in GT5. We don't have to worry about that going into GT5, though, because Kazunori isn't going to dumb the game down by putting in a rewind feature. GT5 is a REAL driving simulator, The Real Driving Simulator.
Just because you want to slander everything trying to be more accessible doesn't make it a bad thing. Let more ppl be allowed to have fun and keep your foolish reasons to yourself.
This is the THIRD type of game where it basically moves itself. That football game, you're moving forward automatically. Forza, you're moving forward automatically. The lightsaber demo moves you forward automatically. Is that all we'll see? On rails stuff? I've yet to be impressed by Kinect OR Move on the front that matters most, SOFTWARE.
not that move is necessary to play the games coming up,but there are many games coming for move that are not on rails. RE5,dead space, move fighter,sorcery,killzone3,soco m4 and games like that are not rail games.and i'd say those are impressive games for move option titles. even games on psn like hustle kings and high velocity are impressive too as move titles. we know there will be move action titles coming.but what were you looking for exactly?
Fable 3, the New Ghost Recon, Harry potter and possibly Metal Gear Solid Rising will use Kinect. It's not just for rails and I personally cant wait to see future applications. I don't see why PS3 fans are all saying now, now, now, when you had to wait like two years before anything decent even came out on the console. The future aspects of Kinect are exciting. What we will see next year and after that. We all know both Move and Kinect this year are releasing Casual games to try to draw into the Nintendo Market.
Would have been a better fit with Project Gotham Racing, make it a full on arcade game. Forza is far too on the sim side of things.
Mainly because it's not like Kinect is the only option for controlling the game. We all knew Burnout was being used last year with Kinect and that was without it having any Kinect support previously built in. Racers seem an easy game to implement Kinect. Doesn't take away from people that want to use standard controllers. To each their own, but it's not like your forced to use Kinect for it. It's just an option.
I'm hardly impressed by Kinect. I can't wait to examine it/it's accuracy though.
Is kinect to enable some form of head tracking like GT5 will have. I think that could be a great feature for any racing game.
They showed it head tracking at E3. Actually having Kinect take care of that while I have a controller in my hand suits me just fine. Unless a new genre is created, more hardcore titles are going to have to be a hybrid of the controller plus certain things Kinect can do like head tracking,voice,etc... Its pretty obvious MS has chosen to highlight the fact you dont need a controller at all, but thats just not realistic for certain kinds of games. Double edged sword...Do they go ahead and have launch games using a controller too and potentially take away from Kinects "full" abilites? Remember, your introducing somthing new to the public, and still having a joystick in your hands wont resonate the same way to certain people. Or do they annoy the more hardcore among us by intially offering "party/casual" games in hopes of broadening the 360 audience? We already know which strategy they picked to start...... And we know hybrid stuff is coming.MS just aint talking that part up right now!
Using Kinect to drive is laughable. No steering wheel No Gas pedal No brakes Thats not driving, it's a complete joke. Epic Fail
Or a standard controller for that matter? A standard controller doesn't have a gas pedal, break pedal, clutch, steering wheel, yet you seem to hate on Kinect for not having those either. At least Kinect would give greater depth to the actual driving part of the game, where you look, the camera looks, I think that's pretty cool.
Rather than go into how kinect could deal with the lack of precision in a driving simulator, you bring up a totally different topic (MOVE). Would kinect be fun for a racing game? Yes, but if it is going to be more than a gimmick for 7 yr olds, it needs to be precise in handling/speed/breaking. How can it do that?
A controller has buttons, likewise so does MOVE. Kinect has no buttons on triggers or a controller, makes you look stupid. Hold your hands up pretending to drive is simply mad concept. And no I would'nt use MOVE to drive, I'd use a controller or steering wheel.
So now we have the option to drive though: 1) Kinect 2) Controller 3) Steering wheel in that order from casual to hardcore. What's the problem? Choose where you fit into the list and drive that way, no one is forcing you to do anything you don't want to they are just giving more options to choose from.
Obviously Kinect was not meant for driving/racing games even if you had the right to choose. It's absolute backwards thinking for this type of genre.
It depends on what you want. Precision or lag?
