Pachter's Podium: 'I Thought Alan Wake Would Be a Blockbuster'

After a brief hiatus due to E3, we're back with yet another edition in our ongoing Q&A series with Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter. This month, Pachter talks with us about the impact of Apple's gaming business, whether we'll see 3G in portables like PSP, the disappointing sales of Alan Wake, and more.

It wasn't at retail, but the game's still a "blockbuster" in my lens. Great title.

I hate that picture of him so much.

Double Toasted2713d ago (Edited 2713d ago )

You know you want to touch yourself when you look at it. You're touching yourself now aren't you?

On topic: They have yet to release a demo on Live...just sayin'...

Edit: Do you want to be my girlfriend? You won't have to touch yourself ;) Call me Beaver and just leave it to me!!!!

captain-obvious2713d ago

well Pachter everything you think/predict doesn't happen
so nothing new in here

zootang2713d ago

@toastie for patcher

I always thought there wasn't something right about you

MariaHelFutura2713d ago (Edited 2713d ago )

Wow, I never knew people like that pic so much. Sooooorrrry.

Wow, Double-Toasted needs a girlfriend.

piroh2713d ago

But seriously, it's too bad the sales of AW have been poor. It's actually a good game.

It doesn't break any new ground, so don't expect that. But it did pull off the survival horror angle better than some other recent attempts (cough *** aloneinthedarktotalcrap *** cough). No where near Dead Space. But probably better than RE5 - which, let's face it, is now closer to pure shooter than survival horror.

Patcher screwed up, by thinking that the game would do well it automatically tanked in sales. Dammit patcher! Way to ruin a great game.

otherZinc2713d ago

There is no way MOVE is going to sell on par with Kinect, no way.

D4RkNIKON2713d ago

yeah he gives Kinect too much credit

factory2713d ago

I played alan wake and it was a pretty good game ,but he described it as innovative and that is the last thing alan wake is.

More like:

"Pachter's Podium: I was Wrong AGAIN"

whoelse2713d ago

Even Pachter gets it wrong sometimes.

Oh wait, he ALWAYS gets it wrong!

I think Alan Wake was a pretty good game but it was flawed in some areas if they just worked on it a little bit longer and would've released it during the holidays it could've a really awesome game but I guess MS gave them a deadline and basically a rushed a potentially GOTY title sigh....

captain-obvious2713d ago

the game was in the work since 6 years
and you say "they just worked on it a little bit longer" and " a rushed a potentially GOTY title" ???

i dont think so

XxSolid SnakexX2713d ago

There were some parts in the game that just didn't feel "right". All I'm saying is they probably needed a couple of more months to work out the kinks.

Elven62713d ago

5 years actually.

And I highly doubt Microsoft gave them a deadline since they had 5 years of development time already!

Belasco2713d ago

Actually, they scrapped the entire thing and started over, if you'll remember it was going to be a sandbox game. Its real developement time is sort of a mystery at least to me.

Breakfast2713d ago

...and thats why it wasnt.

DORMIN2713d ago

You should be a video game analyst! Oh wait

Fishy Fingers2713d ago

Shocking as it might seem, you were wrong. Now get that PC version going.

Baka-akaB2713d ago

after the lukewarm sales , they might actually think a pc version would give them some extra money

zootang2713d ago

He also thought Red Dead would be a flop. Who listens to him?
