Cnet: Kinect for Xbox 360 Review

Cnet: All in all, this hardware is looking very promising. We do worry that not everyone is going to have the space required to really go leaping around their living rooms, but spatial concerns aside, we can't wait to test the hardware out properly, and see its application in the new games themselves.

Why? Because they gave something you personally dislike a positive review? The only joke here is that 99.9% of the people who hate on Kinect on this site haven't even tried it out..THATS a joke ;)

"I'm waiting on a killer app. One killer app will make me understand the potential of kinect to a broad market."

Dance Central. You don't have to agree with me. I PERSONALLY think that game looks like a lot a fun and when it sells buttloads, ull understand. Sales don't equal quality...but I'm trying to make the point that whats "quality" to N4G fanboys is not necessarily "quality" for casual gamers.

SOAD2593d ago

Maybe. But I think that Kinect hasn't shown much promise. CNET, I think, is being too optimistic. I'm waiting on a killer app. One killer app will make me understand the potential of kinect to a broad market. I think kinect can do a few things well, but none of those things are innovative or new. Microsoft is marketing Kinect as being something very revolutionary, and even if it's a good product, it's going to get negative feedback if it doesn't do something revolutionary.

BakedGoods2593d ago

...it's just an 'impressions' piece. Lame.

FURY__UNLEASHED2593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

This isn't even really a review! Even the article says it's just their first impressions on Kinect. The full title is "Kinect for Xbox 360 review: First impressions of Microsoft's motion-maker."

Besides, how could they review something without even knowing what it's price will be? You have to rate features relative to an product's price, and since the price is yet to be announced, they can properly rate it.

Like BakedGoods said, this is an impressions piece, not a proper review.

"We do worry that not everyone is going to have the space required to really go leaping around their living rooms"

Well at a 43 degrees vertical field of view, they should be. At 43 degrees, you have to be over 7 feet away just for it to see you head to toe.

((33.5 x Sin(68.5))/Sin(21.5)) = 85.05 inches or 7.09 feet

You think dance central looks fun? Are you a woman. Really i am curious. If so then i could see how that would interest you. But i have no desire to dance around. And i think most men could agree. If you want to dance then go dance. And yep it might sell a butt load. Cause stupid people will buy anything. Nuff said.

RedDead2593d ago

Well I sorta agree, casuals wuld love this, if your on N4G then that is reason enough to not like it. This site is generally for Hardcore.

The dance game....As above poster said, I go to nightclubs to dance and concerts to dance. Nowhere else(except this one time in my mates where whiskey and Elvis got involved, but that's it)

Denethor_II2593d ago

Yeah, uummm, you can keep Dance Central. Personally I'm looking forward to Killzone 3 and Little Big Planet. *pew *pew

Haha cnet is only a joke cause they just said something positive about it. Your of couse a ps3 fanboy and are now pissy. Its ok dude im sure they will say something positive about the ice cream cones you move around.

n4gno2593d ago

even with thousand of examples, Dumb sheeps don't want to understand cnet (like others ms medias) is a microsoft commercial partner, they are downplaying ps3 since 2006, and exagerate qualities of microsoft products, it is nothing more than an add.

but if you want to see unbiased writing, so do it, it's probably good for unsecured, delusional, minds :)

Anon19742593d ago

Cnet is a microsoft partner. Their parent, CBS has multiple deals with Microsoft, including brining G4TV content to XBL, all their CBS programming to the video service and even Last.fm is a CBS product.

While I read nothing in this article that seemed out of place, just the fact that I know a site has a direct or indirect financial interest in the success of a product, I'm going to question their opinion when it comes to their business partners. Of course they're going to try to promote their business partners. Wouldn't you?

And given Cnet and Gamespot's long history of promoting Microsoft products and downplaying their competitors, any thinking gamer should stop and remember who's writing checks for them.

ALFAxD_CENTAURO2593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

Actually Cnet are professionals, are not bunch of kids with a Keyboard and a Blog..They review all kind of Hardware.

......"we can't wait"

Title: Kinect for Xbox 360 review: First impressions of Microsoft's motion-maker

and thus CNET has just been added to my blocked websites list. All respect just flew out the window with them for this one. idiots

Menech2593d ago

Lemme guess Blaze xbox.com is on your block list to along with 90 percent of the American press and gametrailers?

I guess reading something positive about the 360 really hurts you, you got some problems need I think you should go see a doctor.

TheColbertinator2593d ago

@menech

LMAO You're an idiot.

blaze929 works for xboxevolved.com,a 360 enthusiast site. Not only that,he defends the 360 constantly from the ignorant PS3 fanboys on N4G.Please shut the hell up and do some research before you make a biased remark.

SmokeyMcBear2593d ago

yeah.. thats pretty funny. The Review is that they can't wait to test it... thats a good review.

RBdrift2593d ago

hmmm,i once read an article a few years ago on cnet saying that Sony needed to take the ps3 off the market because it was selling extremely poorly and that it would never sell more or catch up to the 360 and that it didn't have quality games also.
So who's the joke?

Is Kinect HUGE. I have problems placing my eyetoy sometimes in the right spot but man people are going have problems placing that huge shyt.

edit: Never heard of the wii thing dont really care about anything wii related lol but maybe kinect size isnt that bad the first pic from that site makes it look really huge but after look at last pic its not so bad think they couldve shaved off the sides a bit though.

Fireseed2593d ago

Well its about the same size as the Wii sensor bar, you know that thing a few people have, and I haven't heard them complain about it yet.

DlocDaBudSmoka2593d ago

but the wii sensor bar is super thin. i think ppl in apartment will have trouble placing kinect, since APT living rooms are tiny.

strickers2593d ago

If you think that Kinect is the same size as a Wii sensor bar,I bet you've met some disappointed women?

LeonSKennedy4Life2593d ago
