Cheap Ass Gamer: Coming in just behind G.I. Joe, Transformers was a dominant triple threat in my formulative years. I religiously read the comics, never missed an episode of the cartoon, and had a sizeable army of plastic robot warriors. Then they killed Optimus and it all went to Hell. Since that point, I’ve tried to stick with the franchise, but outside of the comics and a couple of toy purchases, my childhood memories have been consistently dismantled into a smoldering pile of rubble. Included in that wreckage are several attempts to bring Transformers to the videogame medium. At best these games have reached the lofty heights of mediocrity (although I did enjoy Transformers G1: Awakening for the iPhone). Can War for Cybertron handle the role of Phoenix and rise from the ashes, or is it just more fuel for the fire?
