Kojima Productions has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Rising is still a stealth game despite it's 'Lightning Bolt Action' tag line.
I'm a little relieved actually, as long as it's a stealth with swords instead of guns. At least that way it is a different game, and not just a Ninja Gaiden clone.
I don't care as I am still purchasing it. TGSI
True, same here lol. MGS FTW!
Unfortunately i am still skeptical and until i see more gameplay videos i will remain that way.
Stealth or not. after watching the E3 Trailer. this game was already a MUST BUY. Raiden is cool again.
Cool again? When was he ever cool? And when did he lose his coolness? Stop saying unreasonable things.
Are you kidding? http://www.youtube.com/watc...
I'm talking about, if he started being cool in Metal Gear Solid 4, why should'nt he be cool in Metal Gear Solod: Rising? In Metal Gear Solid 2, he wasnt cool, Metal Gear Solid 3 even made jokes about him being gay, so why should he be cool again? So either he is still cool, or he had a time when he lost his coolness between completing Metal Gear Solid 4 in 2008 and now.
I am actually even more than a litte relieved that stealth will have a part in the game.... It adds alot of depth & choices.Hack and slash only, can get dull and limited. I am more of a ICO,Uncharted 2,MGS4 fan than I am of pure hack and slahers such as Ninja gaiden,Devil may cry... I am happy MGS Rising is looking to have more substance/depth/choices...
I'm a huge fan of hack & slash games but MGS defines sophistication, mindless gameplay like that (DMC, NG) would only ruin the franchise. I'm hoping for something like Tenchu but brutal like GOW.
Excuse me, but you thought it was a Ninja Gaiden clone after seeing the trailer? Sorry but you couldnt even compare a racer to a fighting game if you think that way.
Yeah, if stealth was similar to the cutscene at the beginning of the trailer then that would be amazing.
@Gaffyh I don't think it will every be a ninja gaiden clone if they say it's still a stealth game, because Ninja Gaiden is far from a stealth game (even though ninja are suppose to be stealth master). Maybe it'll be Metal Gear meets Tenchu, which doesn't sound like a bad combination as long as it's the early Tenchu games.
The love the 'choose the way you wanna slice them up' gameplay. While i really wanna have another game just like MGS4, i trust the team at kojima will do a grand job and give a full fledged MGS title.
this game only because i am a pro MG fan, MG is my favorite game series of all time, second is uncharted and third gow 3, 4th is GT series and fifth is super mario from super nintendo !!!! :D:D:D
I'm in the same boat. Will buy it because I'm a hardcore MG fan...otherwise I would probably overlook this title.
that its multi-plat. ;)!!
To be honest I am, after MGS4, I was hoping Kojima Productions would use that MGS4 engine and make something that really pushes the PS3 to its limit cuz that's what they are good at. But what from what I've seen from Rising, it honestly looks great and I'm looking forward to it whether its a real MGS game or not. It is Kojima Productions after all.
Gameplay looked really good. Interesting to see how well the directional cutting works.
I hope its like Peace Walker but they dont mess up the boss fights like they did in that game!
Gameplay footage doesnt give that impression.
Well, what would they show off if they wanted to sell a game? Cutting bitches up like crazy, or sneaking around corners?
As was my purchase! ;)
True, but didnt they say the stealth wasnt the same as in other MGS games? I thought i read that somewhere, or maybe heard it during the press conference when they showed it.
They said that you could stealth it up, or you could also choose to slash everyone in sight. As long as it keeps some stealth, I might consider buying it.
Funny, there are other stories about Rising and all the fanboys say "Rising isn't Metal Gear!" "Rising will fail!" "Rising is just a cheap cash-in because Kojima isn't involved. It's dumbed down for 360" Lets wait until release, when we get a lot of reviews in. I'm guessing the reviews will be positive and those fanboys will be eating their words and playing the game on release!
My favorite is "Its dumbed down for the 360" then 20min later on a different article "At least the graphics look better than MGS4", all by the same person.
My interest in this game just went up (I resisted the urge to say my interest is rising lol)
I always regretted how much the first person aiming mode changed the metal gear games. Too easy to just put someone to sleep and slip by. This way you'll still have to sneak around. Should be fun. Can't wait to try it out.
They also said they're not trying to focus on core MGS players and want to make the game more accessible to new audiences both in gameplay and storyline. They also said stealth is an option not a focal point. http://scrawlfx.com/2010/07...
My interest remains at "cautious". And Raiden is still the worst protagnoist in a MGS game, his antics in MGS4 may have wooed the crowd, but he's still the same whiney baby to me.
I didn't like him in MGS2, or in MGS4. I still hope this game would have Grey Fox as main character, instead of Raiden.. Still, this game sounds great, and that "manual" slicing looked pretty damn cool.
Indeed. I need to see some stealth gameplay. Mainly I am concerned with the Lightning Bolt Action business and Kojima's limited involvement. They are saying that this will be a different yet connected series, so I think they'll be making certain changes to appeal to those who don't get into MGS proper. I'm betting the story will be good but not as complex, and the cutscenes will be fewer and shorter. I also think stealth will be less involved, but we'll see. The worst thing about it is Raiden himself. All the cutscene acrobatics from MGS4 didn't change the fact that I was glad to see what happened to him in the end.
I did like him in MGS2. Especially how his character was portrayed in the story. This time we see Solid Snake from a 3rd person view. Most people jump on the "Raiden is a whiney bitch" bandwagon but he wasn't that much whiney in MGS2. And nobody can complain about him in MGS4 since they completely took the "whininess" out of him there. And I think he is even less in Rising since he seems to be act a lot less human than MGS4.
More PR talk. We all know it's going to be more of a hack & slash where the odds AREN'T stacked against you unlike the real MGS games. I'll be skipping this mediocre spinoff as it's obvious that they're just trying to use the Metal Gear name to sell people a lackluster hack & slash.
I would have gotten this had it PSmove support.
I will be getting this game for sure like i did with all metal gear solid games
Will I be able to hide in a futuristic ninja box?
well not sure if im getting it i dislike stealth games im to bold i love 2 run out in the open in any game.
people saying that mgs4 was exclusive because of the graphics are idiots.... the real reason is because o0f storage space if you finish of crying wolf otacon disses the dvd storage limit ;) it's all because of the storage. graphics belongs to gow3, uncharted 2, killzone 2, thats games that wont run on the 360. look at ff13 ;) even though the game is meh, the graphics are reallly good for a multiplat, but the 360 version is infernior because of hardware limitations.
Knew this ever since Kojima announced it back at E3 2009. He clearly stated in an interview with Famitsu that Rising was still a "stealth" game.
then I'm not buying this trash game then! so much for a Hack n Slash game:/ once again, dumbed down to another trash Stealth gametype. Conviction was so nice, because you can play it optional, run n gun or stealth. The stealth of Conviction was so much better. Even Hitman's stealth was sweet:/
im so happy to hear this confiramation,i am a mgs fan and stealth fan, thogh i was sure thats gonna be stealth game.yet very difficult to do it in a right way not to be a shameful game among its other mgs masterpiece brothers
