LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 - ZTGD Review

ZeroTolerance writes, "It is no secret that the LEGO games have become somewhat run into the ground. OK let's be honest here, we can all hear the collective groan when they announce yet another franchise is receiving the LEGO treatment. Thankfully while the hardcore audience may be sick of them, there is still a huge market, and not to mention the games are always solid. This brings us to the latest franchise to get the LEGO makeover: Harry Potter. The blocky version of Hogwarts finest continues the trend of stud collection and silent humor the series is known for, but does divorce the online co-op in favor of the split-screen found in the previous LEGO Indiana Jones."

The story is too old to be commented.

Lego games are usually passed off as shovelware, but I find them interesting.

I am playing through Lego Harry Potter and have to say it's a blast. The immersive environments are billiant. The spells system is awesome. The way they open up the world throughout the game, it's almost sandbox in the hub. Lego games continue to improve. This one beTs all predecessors easily.

The licensed LEGO games are never seen as "shovelware". Games like LEGO Racing and the like.. those are the ones that are thought to be shovelware.

The actual licensed ones, though (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman [less so], Harry Potter) have all been really good. Nobody ever passes those off as shovelware :P

I'm about 17% into LEGO Harry Potter, and although I'm totally biased (huge huge huge Harry Potter fan), it's a great game. Definitely my favorite LEGO game. :)

P.S. But that Forbidden Forest level... I think it could be a drinking game, how many glitches there are in there. Probably the glitchiest LEGO level I've witnessed in a long time. But this one smudge doesn't ruin what is an otherwise fantastic game. :D
