Saints Row 3DS named 'Saints Row: Drive By', won't be 'big risk like ChinaTown Wars'

CVG: THQ's just-announced Saints Row game for Nintendo 3DS is called 'Saints Row: Drive By' and will also see a release on Xbox Live Arcade.

Core games VP, Danny Bilson told CVG that both pint-sized versions and Saints Row 3 will unlock content in their opposite number. (Next-Gen, Nintendo, Nintendo DS, Saints Row, THQ, Xbox 360)

So it sounds like the Wii will be getting Saints Row 3 and the 3DS version will unlock stuff in that game. The way the XBLA version will unlock stuff in SR3 on the 360. NOT that the 3DS version is going to unlock content on the 360.

STOP THE PRESSES, the guys just confirmed 360 3D, did no one noticed that, in any case, do we need to buy 3 games for 3 consoles to play one game?

'He said: "Nintendo particularly wanted an 'M' rated game for 3DS's launch. We had it in production - we were doing a 3D version on XBL of Saint's Row: Drive By. '

I likw how people bring up CTW as a failure when it sold 1 million copies on DS.
Yes it was a failure on PSP but lets put the blame where it belongs. The game bombing on PSP had nothing to do with Nintendo.

I agree with you until
the point where you say it bombed on the PSP.
It did half a million there.
and the cost couldn't have been nearly as much as games considered semi-successful at full-retail on PS360 that've done that number.
Wii games that've done 250,000 have been considered successful by their own publishers.
Even then, consider, that it was a port and the cost of making a completely new game wasn't a factor.
Download numbers aren't available from PSN either, so the number is likely more than half a million.

For a 2D GTA,(also consider it more than likely cost less to make rather than 3D) it probably did very good sales-wise.

Any M Rated Nintendo game is a risk anyway. GTA CW is one of the highest rated and awesome DS games. It holds it's own to the console GTAs. But it's fanbase isn't into this genre.
