Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's latest creation, Vanquish, made its playable debut at E3 this month and impressed. Mikami recently spoke about a number of topics, including Vanquish itself as well as the subject of Eastern versus Western video game design.
From the cosmos to crash-landing back on good old planet Earth, come read through the best sci-fi-nastically games on the PS3
Starhawk over Warhawk?...... Dude, NO ONE should listen to you.
Odd choices for "best" more like you settled as these being the "best" that available to you at the time, cause a lot of these blow or were average to poor performers that ended up in bargain bin.
Missing too many great sci-fi titles here. The Void, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2 and 3, Enslaved, man.. there were so many, this is redicu-list.
Glad to see Resonance of Fate. Enslaved was pretty good too. I’m sure there are others nobody has listed but I’m too tired to try and think of anything

Titan fall 2 was chefs kiss. For those of you who haven't played it go ahead. Brilliant. With each level being creatively different.
GF365: "Here are our picks for the ten most underrated third-person shooters that you might not have played before or even known about."
Actually great list TBH I agree with all 10
I hope one day we get some remakes for the following
The saboteur(with a proper remake and quality of life features this game could be great)
Scarface world is yours
Binary domain ( such a great game with great story)
GUN(this needs a remake)
Space marine 40k(such fun time)
Would also like to suggest adding the mercenary series even the 2nd game which is disliked by many is a fun time
I recently finished Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and found it to be very enjoyable.
The game respected the lore and the gameplay was quite decent.
The color palette was a bit underwhelming (backdrops and setting) and recycled but I think that it deserved better.
Here's hoping for an amazing sequel
DUH! Stating the obvious
Shinji Mikami has worked on some of my favorite games.
Soon to be - Vanquish
God Hand
Viewtiful Joe
Devil May Cry
Resident Evil 1-4
Killer 7
He's already got nearly 10 amazing pieces of work under his belt, and his more recent stuff has only been getting better and better, so I trust that Vanquish is going to be an amazing game
--------
I wouldn't say I prefer western games over Japanese or the vice versa because both sides have made some really crappy games and some really amazing games.
Although right now I don't really like how most of the western devs are focusing on Casual games, Iphone games, Generic FPSs, Boring Linear games, Story Driven with boring/crappy/generic gameplay, etc
Japan has always been more Gameplay > Story/Graphics and I prefer quality gameplay in my games.
Although there are those exceptions where western devs make great games like:
Metroid Prime Series
The Witcher
Mass Effect
Little Big Planet
Ratchet And Clank
Morrowind
Guild Wars
Mirror's Edge
Team Fortress 2
Portal
Crysis
"On that topic, Mikami said that he's disappointed with Japanese game design and in fact prefers games from the West"
He's right on the money on that one. This generation is COMPLETELY different from the previous one. I don't to want to stir the flames on this one, but the gaming image of Japan would be saved if their biggest publisher decided to STICK TO THE FORMULA of FFXIII exclusively on the PS3.
The exception to this list of course.. is Metal Gear Solid 4, Peace Walker and Demon's Souls.
Otherwise, I'm looking forward to this game, The Last Guardian, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, Tower of Shadow (Wii) and Final Fantasy versus 13 (if exclusive). I hope this serves as a wake-up call to the Japanese industry if these games deliver.
-End statement
Well, I think what the Mikami guy had to say was pointless really. Sales decide what kind of games get successful. I personally dislike eastern games really much but have two friends who like them. Gamers should just buy whatever they like and get on with the program. Crappy studios will get shut down sooner or later anyway and in the end it doesn't matter from what geographical direction games come from, play what you like.
