AtomicGamer writes: "Action games and RPGs have changed a lot over the years, often coming together to make some of the best video games we've ever seen, but there are so many things that make a first person shooter exactly what it is. Everything from the look of a gun's barrel to the way you reload, to the possibility of (and often, omission of) the ability to see your own body, to the up-close and in your face look of a first-person melee attack - all of that stuff has to work in a first person shooter, and other elements of the game become much more important simply bu pulling the camera back to switch to a third-person view. In an FPS, your character doesn't have to be able to speak. Hell, many of the best FPS games have completely silent protagonists".
