Earlier this month, Microsoft officially launched the Kinect motion control system for the Xbox 360 but the company has still refused to give a concrete price on the system.
Games need to be $40 - $50 and Kinect itself needs to be $74.99. It should be bundled with the Xbox for $50 more. That's the only way the casuals will buy it. Hardcore crowd won't touch the thing until a decent hardcore game comes out for it.
yeah the 75$ price range sounds pretty good but I don't think they will be able to reach that without taking a loss which I don't think they wanna do. Also how can they drop a price on something that was never official anyway. Would this be setting the price to 120? Not dropping it.
Around 6 months ago they said that Natal would get a console pricing system. So it will be released at a high price and carry on dropping it wont stay at the same price like the gamepads do for example.
How is it dropping, if they haven't announced the price yet?
agreed. stupid title haha
I was thinking the same thing. They haven't announced a price. The so called media needs to stop speculating and wait for an announcement. And can I not be confronted by ads for the new XBox 360 everytime I click on an article?!
when did Microsoft officially launch Kinect?....did I miss the release? I thought they officially revealed Kinect.
its kinda hard to not say the price is real.
People that want to get it will and people who do not want it will not get it. Plain and simple.
Obviously, it's still too high. It fails kinda like this video. Go to $80. Be warned when you watch. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
still $120 too expensive
my buddy brick wants one of these it only confirmed his IQ of 48
Not really much of a difference, but any price drop is good
I think its a nice sweet spot.. 120 USD definitely makes is more attractive to buy..
Really odd how much Kinect new there is on this site especially when everyone is saying they don't care about it, its even the hottest game at 90000 degrees 3 times as much as killzone 3 in second. Thats how you can tell it will be huge if on a PS3 centric site its what everyone is talking about. As for price $120 sounds about right since that would be about £80/£99, still MS might be going for the $99 price point to ensure absolute success.
It's like a train crash, you know you should turn away, but you can't help but watch.
Just because its of major interest on N4G, doesn't mean its going to do well in the real world. When its released, this site is going to get tons of stories saying that its either selling out, or at least selling well. Many of these wont list actual numbers or sources, and should other reports counter those, there will be more to both support and attack either side. Its sad that a news site can't simply report the truth.
that's called a non sequitur: drawing conclusions from irrelevant evidence
The hottest articles about Kinect are: "Sony Has Open Net as Kinect Fails to Impress" and "Kinect: This Is How Not To Do It Sony".
"...its even the hottest game at 90000 degrees 3 times as much as killzone 3 in second. Thats how you can tell it will be huge if on a PS3 centric site its what everyone is talking about." Idiots like you are always trolling PS3-related sites and articles. It may not be explicitely displayed on a counter or anything for everyone to see, but plenty of you do it. Does that mean that PS3 is doing just fine and the more you troll and the more people who visit PS3 articles, regardless of motivation, mean that the PS3 is just going to continue to be a success? 2.5 or more years ago when the Red Ring of Death was a relatively fresh subject and it was getting a lot of attention from a lot of websites, did that result in RROD being a huge success? You see what I did there? I just took your fanboy reasoning and applied it against your idiot fanboy coherence. My point is kid is that all attention does not automatically result in positives. All those "degrees" you see can be of visits and discussions to contest Kinect's prospects and of all the plausible faults it has/may have. It is just fair logic. Idiot fanboys like you perceive whatever you want to perceive, so don't let what I say get in your way of a good nights rest.
"Really odd how much Kinect new there is on this site especially when everyone is saying they don't care about it, its even the hottest game at 90000 degrees 3 times as much as killzone 3 in second" AND people said this site was run by ps3 fanboys. Hah!
It obviously is you have to be blind to think N4G is a 360 fanboy site... Those articles are mostly bad anyway and remember fanboys always check news for other consoles just to flame them.
N4g is a news gaming sites, you have every kind of opinions, and gamers, and of course fanboyz too (ps3, nintendo, xbox)...the fact is that the truth on a site like that is often dominating (agree/disagrees), on "all" news, and ps3's news (only xbox fans read the xbox news, so...) and xbox fanboyz, who came from microsoft liars sites, like kotaku, destructoid, gizmodo, etc think that neutral = ps3 biased.
How are people talking about a price drop when there's been no official price announced? Also, given exact circumstance, I'm curious as to why MS wouldn't at least consider selling Natal as cost upon its debut instead of a lost given the age of the 360 itself.
the MOVE is still much cheaper by $40
How many players is that for?
The most people ive seen properly playing a game on kinect is 2. The thing with the family with the kids is just staged in terms of 2 adults 2 kids. large at the back small at the front. I think the default comparison should be 2 players for each. So 2 main lights for the move with 2 subs PLUS camera. vs kinect. I think thats fair. What do you say arnon. Ive already seen the rrp for move cut by retailers to undercut others. It was obvious this was gunna happen.
I say it was confirmed by Microsoft that Kinect would support 4 players after the E3'10 conference. It's a very legitimate thing to bring up, mah man.
MS confirms a lot of things (like hardcore games on top of hardcore games for natal at E3) but what did you actually see with your OWN eyes mah man email your answers to [email protected] com
now all MS has to do is confirm that there are games worth buying a Kenects for. Much less ones that have four players. Ditto for Sony with Move.
"why do people always say that." Because they all have 30ft x 30ft living rooms they are going to need for 4 people? /s "It's a very legitimate thing to bring up, mah man." Unless it's Live. Then you all live on your own and have no family/roommates. Live @ 4 x 50/year + 150 makes it $350 initial year and another $200 every year after that. Oh wait cross-game voice chat isn't all that great after all. Move looks like a bargain. Be able to play multiplayer SOCOM 4 as well. 32-players
The Move is $40...I think you need to do some research on that. Its going to cost you $120 for the whole experience and especially if you don't own any peripherals.
Camera opened/refurb + Move = $80-90. That's all I need for a gaming experience to experience whatever the heck that's so 'magical' about Sony's 1:1 deal. Kinect at whatever price for the gaming experience to experience whatever the heck that's so 'magical' about Microsoft's my-body-is-the-controller deal. If Move games fail, my Move controllers can still be used for other games. Maybe basic control of non-Move games. If Kinect games fail, my Kinect camera will turn into a whatever-price-it-is-at-MSRP netflix remote controller.
What they need to drop is the price for Kinect games. As cool as Kinect's hardware may be - no way in hell I'm paying $60 for shovelware/casualware
There has NEVER been a price announced and this $120 thing is just another rumor created by the community and new outlets. I dont expect Kinect to cost more than $100. Just my opinion on the price guess. But bottom line is, there has not been any price point suggestion at all whether $150 or $120 made by MS.
What do you mean "drop"? No price has even been set to begin with.
thats exactly what i was coming in here to say!
Did all retailers get the 150 price out of thin air? It's pretty obvious that MS wants to price it at 150, but feels the pressure to drop it to 120.
It has to be less than Move...and a MS exec said that Sony will be surprised by the price point and they would have a tough Christmas, so I am hoping that means $74.99 bundle with a game, so that would ROCK!!!
I think ALOT of people will be surprised by the final price point. I sit and laugh at all thee suggested prices and placeholders that retailers are posting up.
they should give it for like 40 usd ,.. that is how much it is worth,.. Pseye does more,.. and costs less,..
For everyone saying there hasnt been a price set yet, where do you think most rumours start? This is how many companies test the waters for acceptable price levels. If a product is new, you need to know what the market will take or you quote high and release low, looking amazingly consumer friendly after being made out to be a bad guy. Those of us who will buy these things regardless of the price arent the concern of Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony. Its the casual market that are harder to sell to.
The price does not matter. Can you really see yourself standing in your living room pretending to have a steeringwheel in your hands? Now come on, its not third grade. Tsk tsk tsk. Or even jumping around like you lost it. ??? Right, you would not
120 doesn't look that much different than 150 to the moms who are going to buy it. $99 would be better. just looks better being under $100. other wise keep it at $150 and make the extra $30, because i don't think $120 will bring in that many extra buyers.
Doesnt matter 99 or lower or its crap same with move 99 or lower for ALL 3 pieces or its crap
Oh, so many morons in this world
I was thinking it, so I'll just agree with you.
If it is $19.99...well no I still wouldn't use it.
il pay 80$
Needs to be a lower price along with the games and have a WOW factor to pay $100+. Instead of me just saying I'll explain it to. Kinect isn't offering anything great just yet and the games don't look appealing, all there is so far is people jumping around flailing around and people like the Sonic guy looking like their batting 1,000 flies outta the way. They need to incorporate games that look like "Wow, that looks awesome!I can't wait to play that!!!" Red Ball Game: Really? That will get boring within minutes. Painting: That isn't painting, honestly it's throwing paint everywhere hoping it looks like something. Kinectimals: Ok kids can play it sure it's fun for a lil bit till they get bored of actually not feeling the pet and petting the air get a real pet? I dunno get a Hamster those creatures aren't grimlans they don't take a lot of work to take care of, seriously how long can that game have lasting appeal? Kinect Adventures: Again you're making stupid movements and just jumping side to side and jumping not to mention most of the videos show crazy lag, the demo looked boring and the crowd wasn't even wow'd. Sonic Game: Really? Did you see that .gif of that dude playing that? Rofl, I don't want to look like that. Disagree I really don't give a flying (insert word) give me reasons they will be fun? The only reason Kinect will be fun is if you actually get smashed then you might kick furniture and knock your friends out or break your TV. Seriously though, people that work don't want to come home and do this crap, we want to chill the hell out and play games, not work more when we get home. Since I'm a personal trainer and I basically live at the gym I don't want to come home workout even more, again this is coming from my very own opinon.
Kinda need a price to begin with in order to drop it.
well maybe not 80$..i like the xbox 360 but i don't see this working out for ms maybe in a year or two even then i don't see it...and i hate to say this but ms is being lazy all that money and this is all they can come up with..but i may be wrong. it cud be a hit but i don't thank so if it was a new xbox then yeah it will work.....i been playing game for 20 plus years and i thank this is a mistake..i see sony heaving better luck............a
99 dollars bundled with Wii i mean Kinect sports and maybe i will get it. Games should also be priced at the 40 dollar mark.
