The Nintendo Revolution really peaked my interest as a concept, but it ended up disappointing.

Xbox 360 and Gears of war. They had been showing screen shots and many people thought there is no way that game could look that good...then they demoed it live in front of the world. WOW!!! Day one, and the next gen was officially started. Many great moments and games on 360 this gen. Gears 3 looks INCREDIBLE...

Listening to Sony describe the PS3 as a super computer and running all those trailers telling us the games were gonna look like that got me hyped for the console. Unfortunately it turned into a big fraud. Motorstorm, KZ 2, Eight days...man, they turned out nothing like them. Eight days never even came out? I bought the PS3 " fat Elvis " model with the KZ 2 bundle. The in game graphics are ok but NOT like the trailer. WORSE, the game play made worse by the terrible PS3 controller was bad . KZ 3 looks better but the game play, judging by the demo, has not improved much.

I bought the Nintendo Wii with the Wii sports package ( like everyone else ) and its ok. The graphics on the Wii are the worse by far. Still, it's a fun system but calling it the cheapest in terms of cost was a lie. You NEED two controllers to play the Wii and that will take the cost right up to the other consoles. Did I mention how bad the graphics are. Your eye's will bleed on a HDTV. I think they port DS games over at full price.

BTW...the masterpiece ( down below ) returns 1 more time to ride out the current gen is style. Lets RIDE!!!

Oh I remember that day well worked third shift at the time. I got out at 6am went straight to my local eb and dropped 1,200 hundred dollars on games, vmu's,controllers,ar cade stick, and race wheel. I remember geting that dreamcast eb shirt and the coupon book definitely the most money I've spent on any console launch but boy was it worth it. The games the graphics they just blew me away nuthn has come close in my opinion as far as launch titles are concerned the rest of that year was great with NFL and NBA 2k coming soon after launch what a year it was indeed

PS1 and Saturn were the first consoles to use 3D polygon graphics almost exclusively, but the Dreamcast added a level of polish that, for the first time in console history, exceeded arcade games of the time.

The 360 got my interest because the first Xbox was more powerful than the PS2 and I felt like the next Xbox would be more powerful than the next Playstation, naturally. But it didn't turn out like that.

I was also excited for the Wii because at the time it was called the Revolution and there were fanmade trailers for what it would look like and how it would work and they were pretty good so I figured Nintendo's final product would be amazing. Needless to say, I was a little disappointed but I still think the Wii is a good machine with good titles.

The Playstation 3 didn't get my interest immediately because I heard there was a delay and many sites and my friends said it was because they saw the 360 and went back to the drawing board. I don't know if that's true but when the PS3 was announced and shown and priced people were still not happy with it. The price was really high, the launch titles seemed thin, and my friends were telling me that Sony had fucked up big time.

I still ended up buying a PS3 first and I'm happy with it.

I also like my 360 but am disappointed by Microsoft's lack of ambition when it comes to getting studios. They seem pretty dense to me and arrogant themselves for talking up their console but not committing to buying studios to support it. At least when Sony was talking shit it was because they had 2 successful consoles under their belt and a shitload of studios to support their console.

Consoles never really got me super super excited before launch. I don't know why, but I know the top 3 games that got me most excited before release:

3. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
2. Gran Turismo 5
1. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

MR LOOKINGBILL2615d ago

i would say the ps2 and xbox 360.

GuruStarr782615d ago

Dunno why, I just remember being really excited for these systems.....

CobraKai2614d ago

I was hella excited for the Saturn, and unlike most people, I loved every bit of it.

The only other system I got that excited for was the PS2. I actually preordered that one, even if there weren't many games worth getting at launch.

GuruStarr782614d ago

I remember playing the hell outta daytona with my dad.....good memories.

I got the 360 pretty much solely to play the first next-gen fight night when it came out....everything else on the system at that time was a joke outside of the first 360 call of duty....I think it was call of duty 2 or 3? Not sure though, there's so many of 'em now.
