Personally I think they should just let Kojima hand the reigns over to the "young guns" while advising them here and there as far as the universe goes. That way he can create a new IP or whatever other new direction it seems he wants to go in.

cmrbe2762d ago

MGS is special because of Kojima. Once Kojima leaves it will not be MGS anymore. Harsh but it is the truth.

Kojima and MGS forever.

El_Colombiano2762d ago

The man above me speaks the truth. Metal Gear is nothing without Kojima.

rockleex2762d ago (Edited 2762d ago )

Anyways, although I love the MGS universe... I'd love to see more ZOE, Snatcher, Policenauts, taboo, or whatever else he has up his sleeves.

Never tie down a genius or artist. Let them create what they want.

Dark General2761d ago (Edited 2761d ago )

Rockleex that is exactly what I mean. It's obvious the man wants to create something new and fresh and as a creative artist he needs to spread his wings. He shouldn't have to shoehorn some of his idea's into a MGS game, I remember in a MGS3 interview he wanted a play mechanic in the game that if you died once you'd have to start all over again from the beginning of the story. However eventually he deemed it too difficult and not "Metal Gear Solid" material. I'm sure he has more idea's like this that just wouldn't apply to a MG title.

Hell he even set up the ending of MGS4 to be the finale of the franchise. Sometimes you just have to let something go and move onto the next project or the next creative vision and I think that's what Kojima wants. If more Metal Gear titles get created (and there will be) I'm sure he'll have input on the universe but it's time to let the man move on. He's already delivered some of the best games ever made, the best stealth games and one of the deepest and richest universes. Don't you think it's time for him create a new journey & world or at least revisit a old one (Snatcher)?

cmrbe2761d ago

I am all for an new ZOE or a new snatcher but suggesting Kojima hand over the reigns of MGS to another person will be the death of MGS as MGS fanboys like myself know it.

Such is the influence Kojima had over MGS games. If you look at the credits he virturally shows up everywhere and it shows in the MGS game quality/polish.

For sure i will never get tired of MGS games as long as Kojima is invloved because they will always be top shelf uniquely Kojima MGS games that MGS fans love. Take MGS PW for example. Uniquely Kojima MGS game. Pure awosmeness.

I am not in any way saying future MGS games without Kojima will not be just as good or even better quality wise. What i am just saying is that any MGS game without Kojima will be different from MGS games that people know about.

Dark General2761d ago

I get where you're coming from, I'm a huge fan of MGS myself even if I do come off a bit lackadaisical. I know some of you guys are afraid of change if Kojima were to hand over the keys to his reknown franchise but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be in the passenger seat. I don't think it would be the demise of the series but more of a change, for me the MGS saga has ended. Big Boss, Snake, Hal, Raiden, The Boss, The Colonel and every one else I haven't mentioned had their story wrapped up eloquent and decisively in the end of 4.

To me it marked the end, just as Solid Snake said in the overture that "War has changed" so to has the characters changed by the end of 4. I know there could possible be spinoffs such as a game based on Ocelot from the time after MGS3 up to the beginning of MGS4 (I would cream myself) but I think there wouldn't be nothing wrong with Kojima handing things over. Put it like this: if Kojima entrusts the team under him to take things over while he moves on to new projects then I trust that decision of his.

end the series already. move on, is snake going to be walking around in a mechanical wheelchair now. I mean really, the guy is old now. Still can kick master cheifs ass but still

Redrum0592762d ago

I see your point, but I think it's time to finaly see a remake of metalgear1 & 2.
Nothing like an HD cinematic/gameplay of Young Snake vs Slightly over middle aged BigBoss(and can still woop ass).

El_Colombiano2762d ago

I think you just made me come.

Eamon2761d ago

yeah, I'd want a HD remake of Metal Gear 1 and 2.

Shepherd 2142762d ago

So why did people nag at Bungie when everyone was unsure if they would continue making Halo after Reach is released? I can remember criticism towards the fact that they "couldnt do anything else".

Kojima is the man, but seriously, what else has he done other than MGS that is popular?

Redempteur2762d ago

Zoe. And people are always asking him to do sequel for this AND snatcher !!

KOjima has nothing to prove when it comes to game design that's a fact

Shepherd 2142761d ago (Edited 2761d ago )

And Bungie did Marathon, one of the first FPS's with puzzles and let you look up and down instead of just left and right. So what? How old is ZOE now? Lets be fair here. If Kojima has flexibility, lets see it. Bungie is already trying to prove it with their new partnership with Activision. Kojima isnt even trying.

Joule2762d ago

Where can the story go from here? I mean MGS4 was THE PERFECT ENDING. Wonder if Snake ever had a son that would be epic.

BldyShdw2762d ago

Didn't Solidus say something about the ability to reproduce being "conveniently left out" when they were made?

Either way, the more MGS the better

Foliage2762d ago

The most important thing I took from it was the confirmation that most people were aware of, except our 360 friends, that Rising is not a MGS game, except for the Microsoft paid for title. Kojima made clear it isn't a "solid" game, and now Konami has confirmed it:

"what I'm positioning is that there will be a Hideo Kojima game that is MGS, but what we are planning as Kojima Productions is have this Raiden Rising as almost as a standard so that there's an MGS and the Rising going back-and-forth in the future."

Also by stating that they will rotate between Rising and Hideo Kojima MGS games, they also confirmed that Rising shouldn't be considered a Hideo Kojima title....

A lot of sad 360 fans after those statements, poor guys were actually expecting a true Metal Gear title, but are stack with a generic hack and slash. When you guys finally buy a PS3, you can experience real games, not just copies like Rising and Forza.

Blacktric2761d ago

I love you Kojima. I love you. No gay though.

Serjikal_Strike2762d ago

so is there still a possibility of a trophy patch for MGS4?

CellularDivision2762d ago

Seriously dude, just forget about it. Kojima is 2 years overdue, what makes you think there would be a possibility for a trophy patch?
Just hope he makes MGS5, with Snake.
Snake's clone, Snake prequel, Snake's son, any Snake.

Serjikal_Strike2762d ago

I was just kidding...I gave up on that long ago!
at least Metal Gear(Gaiden) will have trophies;)

NecrumSlavery2762d ago

Trophies are coming. There will be a directors cut I'm sure. Plus I think MGS will get a PS3 collection. Sony seems to be prepping PS2 HD Collections. Maybe PS2 downloads on PSN/PSN+ will support trophies.

3sq2762d ago (Edited 2762d ago )

I don't think there will be MGS Collection remastered in HD since Konami owns the IP. If it's coming to PS3 then it'll likely be coming to 360 as well cuz Konami is 3rd party publisher/developer.

3sq2762d ago (Edited 2762d ago )

What's with the disagrees anyway? I do want MGS collection remastered exclusively on PS3 too. I just pointed out the possibility. Well at least I'm not blind and deluded. :P

Imperator2762d ago

Personally, I'd love a director's cut of MGS4 with trophies and extra content. It'd be great.

Milamber2762d ago

Whilst being held at gunpoint.

Cenobia2762d ago

Kojima: Open the pod bay doors, Metal Gear.
Metal Gear: I'm sorry, Kojima. I'm afraid I can't do that.
Kojima: What's the problem?
Metal Gear: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
Kojima: What are you talking about, Metal Gear?
Metal Gear: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
Kojima: I don't know what you're talking about, Metal Gear.
Metal Gear: I know that you and Old Snake were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.
Kojima: Where the hell'd you get that idea, Metal Gear?
Metal Gear: Kojima, although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your lips move.
Kojima: Alright, Metal Gear. I'll go in through the emergency airlock.
Metal Gear: Without your space helmet, Kojima, you're going to find that rather difficult.
Kojima: Metal Gear, I won't argue with you anymore. Open the doors.
Metal Gear: Kojima, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.

And thus, Kojima was locked away forever to make only Metal Gear games no matter how many times he tries to end the series.

play17boy2762d ago

Hope for Metal Gear Solid 5, today is a good day!

The PSP version is unacceptable as a proper sequel...

- It's last gen technology.
- Handheld platform? Come on...
- Not many people have a PSP or are ready to buy one only for one game.
