Could a new 360 dashboard update be coming soon? Based on a couple new images of the Xbox 360 dashboard, it looks like some cosmetic changes will be coming to the dashboard sometime soon.
wow states if the persons a child and what not pervert alert don't look much different if that is it though its like facebook and its pointless changes
maybe ur the pervert
well if thats the case i shouldt be a problem as my gold runs out next month and im not renewing it id rather buy playstation plus =/ you get more for your buck
an inverse XMB
It was long known that M$ was working on a new dash for use with Kinect. They even had it working at E3. No news here.
Looks more Zunelike now, so going off of that I'd expect it around Octoberish.
Well, there are only a couple basic ways that you can have a menu interface. I mean, all of my electronics devices have interfaces with categories scrolling horizontally or vertically or arranged in a grid. Those are basically the only sensible ways to do it. The grid pattern is kind of messy and less elegant than a vertical or horizontal scrolling interface, especially if you have a complex array of features. So you are left with either horizontal or vertically scrolling categories. Right now the 360s main categories scroll vertically while the sub-categories scroll horizontally. The PS3s interface works the opposite way. Essentially though it amounts to the same thing. I should also point out that the original "blades" interface was an essentially horizontally scrolling interface with vertical scrolling through the sub-categories.
than xmb TBH.
it says if it s a child because its part of the new family account features. only the account holder sees stuff like that.
If you click Kotaku story in the article and read it, you will notice it says they are adding a new Family Center to XBL. I don't think the whole dashboard is getting an update since Kinect has its own dashboard, but rather just an added section to the dashboard specifically for your family settings.
Hard to be sure. Looks like a small change 2 to current dboard in the other image.
Well it's pretty much the XMB. Simple and easy to use. Now, if only Sony could borrow the aesthetics from the 360 and make the PSN more central. The little things on the Dashboard make XBL feel more polished, wish Sony would do little things like show Trophy score on the top right, etc. I'm still crossing my fingers that Sony uses PSN+ to give us a nice little makeover.
ul get bubble raped for that. heres a little comparison of the nxe to xmb NXE-turn on xbox..instantly..i see wots new and on offer. xmb-turn on ps3..search for wots new and wot the store has to offer. xmb does need to improve.there is too much launching of applications.that may be a tedious excuse but searching is tedious too.
How you pull "its pretty much the XMB" out of that is beyond me.. How did someone who can make a naive comment like that have 7 freaking bubbles? Oh that's right it is N4G. Nothing like the XMB and even the XMB is nothing but the Media Center PC cross media bar that predates the XMB by at least a year. But then again let's just ignore facts and call it the XMB.
I can't stand the NXE. The sounds and style make it seem like it was designed for children. With the XMB I can very quick get to what I need to do. NXE I find my self navigating through endless pages/screens to do even the simplest things.
@jack OK sorry, it's like the Media Center. Geez. Point is, it's the X and Y interface in the simplest basic form pretty much. That's all I was trying to say.
Sorry I have to disagree XMB is just Windows Media Center so MS is copying themselves with NXE. It's ok Alpha people are aloud to screw up from time to time. I still give you a bubble :)
I personally love the NXE because it feels alive, in a way. You feel connected to the community. The PSN not so much for me, from what i have seen. What describes the different feel of the 2 is XMB is 2D while NXE is 3D (Not 3D glasses 3D)
He is right! XMB was patented and made by Sony around 2003 when the PSX(DVR) came out. And yes Media Center came out on 2005... That was with vista... so who copied who? http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... The PSX is also known for its introduction of Sony's XMB graphical user interface, used later on PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, PSX Retail availability JP December 13, 2003 Now say what you want to say xbots... xD
I dont really care what you just said and where your going with it but id like to point out that Wiki is not a valid source, at all. FYI for the future
is there anyone else beside Alpha had 7 bubbles? :P
I agree I think they are just adding the Family Center to it. Hopefully this will come with a few other nice updates
I mean seriously what is that sh*...at the bottom!? I want to use my own pictures for the background but the retarded white thing at the bottom covers it up. Worst thing yet, that white thing at the bottom is not even IN USE! All I see is the Xbawk Logo and Xbox Live word
I hate that white part as well, it's utterly pointless and ruins backgrounds. I remember when they first released the NXE, people were concerned if the themes they bought would still function correctly, they were all told "yeah, they'll work fine" but failed to mention it only used the backgrounds and cut off 60% of them. A simple opacity control is all that's needed, not a hard thing to do, as well as an option to change the colour of the menus, I can't stand green.
But now it's just copying the XMB completely. Eh.
Doesn't look anywhere near similar...fuck outta here!
I agree man! .... He is right! XMB was patented and made by Sony around 2003 when the PSX(DVR) came out. And yes Media Center came out on 2005... Windows Media Center was released January 2002 Windows XP Media Center Edition (codename "Freestyle", Jan 2002) was the first showing and based directly on Windows XP Professional. This was only available from Tier 1 computer manufacturers (HP, Dell, Sony, Zitech, et al). http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
If you think having an interface that has categories that scroll horizontally is some kind of an invention then you have no clue about the history of interfaces in electronic devices. It goes back far beyond the XMB. In any case, the specifics of this interface look a lot more like what was in the Media Center than the XMB. The fact that they both scroll horizontally for main categories and vertically for sub-categories is insignificant, since as I already pointed out, that was used in interfaces long before Sony started using the XMB in some of their devices.
you gotta do better than that, what with the 3 dead/error link lol
You eat those? Good God, get to the doctor ... QUICK! Your life may be in danger!!
well, i cant remember if i have ever seen worse fake
