CVG: Service only 360 exclusive for a year, VP reveals
You had to know it was only a timed exclusive paid for by MS just like Netflix.
And next year the PS3 will probably have EPSN. Whatever XBL has, expect PSN to have it a year later. That's not a compliment, that's testimony to PSN always playing catch up. The service still doesn't have its own identity. More conversations are about what it doesn't have as compared to XBL and what it should have to compete with XBL, as oppose to what it has that sets it apart.
So stanlee, did you know in the right mind hence your thought, about you having the possibility of visit these site through ps3 browser...oh no, wait wait, I'm a retard fanboy, so lets reply as ignorant as ever before...oh whatever.
@StanLee: Paying off companies for one year's worth of exclusivity doesn't mean the PS3 is behind... just that Microsoft has money to spend. Name one person who turned down a PS3 solely because it lacked Last.FM support... or facebook / espn for that matter...
@Stan Lee Yet, look who adopted built in HDMI, slim console, and built in wi-fi late. Don't forget the PS3 has a web browser that can do these things already. Only MS charges for free features and only Xbox fanboys brag about paying for free features.
ummm the innovative social hang out called playstation home says hi to that poor excuse for a rival app called game room.now that's playing catch up buddy.all these third party apps are just free online services that microsoft adds to justify making u pay 50 bucks a year for lol. yes sony is getting them all later but the difference is all these 3rd party apps are going to work hand and hand with home making them worth using on my ps3 instead of turning slightly to my left where my mac is and using the app on there you fail if your paying to browse on facebook or watch tv on hulu lol.
Is Last.fm US or US/UK only? or is it availaible everywhere on consoles?
I agree... and it is great that Microsoft funds the development of PS3 software and then PS3 owners get the same stuff that Xbox people pay an Xbox Live Gold Membership ... Only for FREE... THANKS Microsoft!
@Hank Hill Defending and bragging are two completely different words.
I don't have anything to say other than - Stanlee, you just got OWNED!
Why are they always doing what MS is doing with the 360? Talk about monkey see, monkey do!!!! PS3...the ME TOO console http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Like HDMI? Xbox 360 S a black slick console that gathers fingerprints? MS's Eyetoy? Be more informed ;) It would be great if MS actually were a ME TOO console when it comes to GAMES and copies Sony but I guess they want to be original. Anyway I don't except much from MS as they are not in it for the GAMES. They are there just to try to stave off Sony from taking over the living room
You think PAYING to get something first is "innovation"? Yep, you worship the right console...
Kinectimals and Kinect Sports says hi.
You're a fine example to my other comment below read please. Pfft!!! Below: If MS wouldn't have done it, no console owner would see this type of stuff on their console. This isn't rocket science.
I see were you're coming from. I don't mind if Sony brings this kind of stuff to their fans, but when their fans start acting like MS isn't bringing innovation like this to their CONSOLE it makes them look retarded. Sony isn't the first one in line to bring this type of stuff to the industry, but their fans act like Sony is the one to do everything first and better, its ridiculous.
What Xbox does, Sony Droids does! It only (droid) does everything! God Sony, be original for once.
Yeah, kind of a *shrug* for me as well. Already have Pandora on my TV, so not really jumping at this.
His point is, that Sony isn't being innovative, its sitting back watching what MS is doing and Sony fans congratulates Sony for this. But if....IF MS does it you have people like this... Godmars290 15h ago "@WrAiTh Sp3cTr3 My reason and issue with bringing up MS is that when they do move into an industry, ever since they started doing it after the Xbox1 anyway, is that they actively go after the current leader of that industry while having no other drive than to become the new leader of that industry. The whole thing with HD-DVD vs Blu-ray is example of how, when their true goal was to place their menu and security codecs as the disc format standard, they may have hurt development in that industry. Now, when we've already got Sony and other TV makers pushing 3D, there's MS waiting to see where things are going so they can try and take things in another direction." #2.5Agree(4) | Disagree(0) | Report | Reply
One line, people...ignore this butthurt fanboy, cus sure he is... Fanboys now are getting hurt cus the little extra even though they are actually free but charged over a money wh@re service called Live! are being taken to psn FOR FREE...wow, you hear that, LOL, yeah, paying catch up, wait I meant, playing catch up... Still, you can visit these sites through the ps browse, cus i actually have, and use the service quite sometimes. And lol, at the dude, saying if microsoft didn't do it, others wouldn't, who is microsoft, the godfather?...fanboys.
***His point is, that Sony isn't being innovative, its sitting back watching what MS is doing and Sony fans congratulates Sony for this.*** Have you seen what Sony has brought to the PS3 outside of the U.S. for TV shows, movies, and radio? This is nothing about Sony sitting back and watching MS, it's about getting the rights in the U.S. with the right amount of money. Sony has done this sort of music delivery before MS, just not in the U.S. Even better is what Sony has already brought to TVs way before Microsoft even began pondering what they would bring to the console. I had Netflix on my Sony TV before it came to my 360 or PS3. Same with radio, YouTube, various other video services and the such. Now, I'm not trying to make it look like people here aren't fanboys of one type or another, honestly. But Microsoft isn't the one leading the market in this area. Even in sport shows, which PS3 and Sony TVs already have many deals with for distributing Nascar, Baseball, and other sports. But, Microsoft is definitely controlling these markets in the U.S., and it makes sense because they have the power to do so whereas Sony just doesn't.
Whenever I get the urge to use an internet radio service on my PS3 (rare).....well, I go to PANDORA.COM. I've only had my PS3 for 1 1/2 years, but I've been able to do that for the whole time. Whether it comes or not, it's still one of those "shoulder shrug" moments. My take.
If it does I would actually play my PS3 more. TGSI
=) come to popa i did't know it was a timed exclusive i just thought the ps3 browser needed an update lol could you use it before microsoft annouced the deal at it any i prefer 'groove shark' only found out about it yesterday through 'Godmars290' but love it already @Nyc_Gamer it don't work on the ps3 browser like i said i thought it needed an update lol
HULU would be a better grab since I don't know of any better or equivalent service on the internet that I can get for PS3. HULU > last fm
It's "I couldn't care less". TGSI
even though we could always hit up these kind of services on the ps3 because the browser
Weither or not it comes with vidzone already there , at least for some of us , there is no rush nor major need . Would be a welcome addition but nothing to spill milk over
vidzone is ok but theres not much there for me i put in 'jadakiss' in and got 3 results, last fm has so many i find songs of his i've never heard, even underground uk grime artist artist from birmingham england were im from are on there which was a real suprise @baka-akab oh ok thats true lol
Sure , but what i meant is , it's not like the ps3 had nothing while waiting for last fm , with vidzone already there , and some equivalent services working via the browser .
I also enjoy the still photos of the artists, great for friendly get togethers.
pft... pandora is waay better last.fm builds your radio stations based on popularity ie: if person likes x song then they should like y song because thats what most people who like x song like. whereas pandora builds your radio stations from musical similarities: "Pandora relies on a Music Genome that consists of 400 musical attributes covering the qualities of melody, harmony, rhythm, form, composition and lyrics. It's a project that began in January 2000 and took 30 experts in music theory five years to complete. The Genome is based on an intricate analysis by actual humans (about 20 to 30 minutes per four-minute song)" -howstuffworks.com
Everything Microsoft does is timed at best.
I would absolutely love Last.fm on PS3.
Go to a PS3 browser, type last.fm in the address. And BAM! There it is!
It was always been there.
I use it all the time on the Xbox 360, good to share it will more people though. Probably the Wii will be the next to follow as well. I still use the custom soundtracks on the 360 for most games though, load up my favorite tunes and create my own cinematic music for the games I play when on 360.
Microsoft and real exclusive doesn't exist. It seems that businesses are reluctant to give Microsoft full exclusives like they give Sony full exclusives. They may not have confident in Microsoft's brand. I can make a laundry list of so called Microsoft exclusives that turned out to be timed exclusives. Sony exclusives stay exclusive 99% of the time. I am sure there is an exception. But can't think of one right now.
Where's Vidzone for the US, that's what I want to know.
I would be very happy if it does. I use it all the time.
Sony spends there money on 1st party games and
Microsoft spends there money on timed exclusives.
I love LastFM.Great to have it on my 360
people really are bragging about something others get for FREE. Thats dumb, i dont care how 'intergrated' it is...the only thing intergrated is the xbl fee. Why hasnt i player been provided for the silver members IF theres a problem MS charging for it.....Thats right because they want to justify the yearly fee with stuff others get for free and some of you guys lap it up. Dumb. Kudos for making people feel like they're getting something of value though... i mean, just look at em.
These things should be free. xbl is not streets ahead like it used to be but there are some features that definitely need to be leeched by sony. Conversely there are some things that psn has over xbl which affect actual gaming like dedicated servers. Its like the taboo term for some people here like its not all that important. *mag looks at gears 2* how can a game with so much going on have less lag than a 5 on 5. Isnt dedicated servers (1st party games) better than facebook and last fm intergration?? Anyway even afeter psn get the features 360 users pay for there will still be people telling us its still streets ahead...*sigh*
We all know Sony and Microsoft are in a cold war of sorts for the console gamer, and they are both in it for the cash, not as much for what they can offer the gamers. Don't get me wrong, the road to the console gamers wallet is paved with the apparent good intentions of these companies to 'offer services' which the other does not have. this has given rise to a culture of 'innovation', or what I like to call the monkey see monkey do mentality.
Innovation? Not so Much. Re-iteration? All the way.
A wise man once said... there is nothing new under the sun. This is true for the current gen of consoles moving forward.
Another 360 exclusive lost.
Last FM isn't that great to be honest. If they let you hear music in the background now that would be huge. But you can only hear it only if your in the last fm section so kinda pointless. They should make it so you can play games and have Last FM in the background and a lot more people would use it. I hardly use it for this very reason.
