Summer CES -- the "E3" of 1990 -- focused on motion control and teaching music through games. How far we've come.
I love the motion gaming devices. My favorite is the Konami headset that fires when you talk. How impracticle is that?
what a great article, this is the kind of stuff that should be at the top of the front page here all the time.
Agreed Mr. Canadian Alien. Finally some real reporting.
I fell for Turbo Grafix 16. Had a lot of fun with Keiths Courage and bonks adventure was my favorite. I still remember how some of the bosses would have a bubble of snott after you beat them. We have come far.
I was only 3 then. :3
i was -0.3 then
I was 12, and reading about it in EGM months later, rofl.
i was 3 as well.
I was 18, god I'm old compared to some/most on here.
I was 20 and based on some of the comments here - damn, I feel old now
I was 7, and judging by some of the comments here I'm calling you all liars. This is a fanboy website, and we all know fanboys are no older than 14.
except you right?... it would be three more years before i got my first system (brick game boy), although i do remember playing my sister's atari 2600.. i loved yars revenge, missile command, there was also this western game where you had to lasso cattle, loved that one too.
Ian & kaos :D you don't have to feel old. i know il be gaming till i die! :D don't know how great il be, arthritis might kick in sooner than i anticipate! :D GAME ON!!!
I was 8
are Dudley Moore and the Harlem Globetrotters of course. lol.
y r people approving this? the 1st E3 was 1995!
E3 came from CES because there wasn't enough room for everything. "As the years wore on, CES got too crowded for the ever-expanding games industry, which needed a show of its own. E3's 1995 debut was an instant success, and for the most part, the game companies have not looked back since." Like the article says it was the E3 of it's time.
We have come far, very far
And we should never forget where we came from, if we wish to truly appreciate were we are.
That last picture on the article bought back memories.. I owned an Atari Lynx - such a cool piece of hardware.. weighed a ton compared to hardware of today though and holding it for anymore than 30mins was torture. The games were sweet though APB, Klax, Double Dragon, RoadBlasters.. good times!
Yes. I was 12 years old when this. Those were the days man.
wow thats a long time ago
please post up the 90's next:):)
We need some archival local news footage to accompany this awesome article, STAT!!!
