3-D effects? Force Feedback steering wheel? Beautiful visuals? Tight gameplay? November 2nd can't get here soon enough.
as always. GOTY 2010 for me
I'm really excited to use the steering wheel i recently got to use with this game. First time i'll have used it with a full GT game. I used it with that GT5 time trial demo and the difference is a-maz-ing. It's how the game is meant to be played. But i have to get a seat or something to clamp the wheel on cos it rocks about too much at the moment. I really recommend people to get a wheel for the game though, if you like GT enough. It completely changes the experience, to how its meant to be played. Even driving down a straight, you feel the wheel pulling against you, fighting you...its wicked
If you need an idea for your driving setup. I made one and it cost me about 15$ of wood and it works great. I can sit on my couch and feel like i'm in a car. Pretty cool!
Feels really natural.I thought it was stupid at first, but man it does help the immersion. You're right about the Wheel being the only real way to play it, personal opinion. Although there are people that can kick sweet ass with the DS3(as they were top on the leader board) I'd think it has to do with some sort of freakish response time. I'm just slower with the DS3. The wheel feels more responsible of an input, considering you're driving a car.
G25, G27, Fanatec? I have a G27 and a Fanatec 911 S. Can't wait to try them both on GT5. It's made for the Logitech wheel so I'm guessing it will edge out the Fanatec but I am going to have a blast finding out.
You mean more like GOTY 2007?
Na, I'm going to go with LBP2 as GOTY.
Another excellent game!!! I choose GT5 overall because i have been waiting for half a decade... November can't come soon enough
No, that highly prestigious tile will be presented to Reach, the most deserving of it by far.
@above Reach wont be GOTY. @Deathracer I have to agree with you. LBP2 is way too innovative not to be GOTY. This is mindblowing: "The steering wheel is more than enough to make Gran Turismo 5 stand out in terms of realism, but Sony literally went the extra mile by adding a whole new dimension. You have the option to race in 3-D in GT5, and while it does take a little getting used to (especially with Sony’s “fancy” glasses), the experience is glorious. Objects look much more realistic in 3-D, and the car models, the Ford GT and Chevy Camaro in this case, were almost to the point that you could reach out and touch them" Over time people will look back and say: how the heck we were playing games in 2D before? Adding Z-axis is full of win. Time for saving for that 3D set.
GT5 is one of those games that will keep players busy for a very long time. I know for sure that this game will be quenching my driving thirst for many years to come. With GT5 there is no need for any other racing game with constant sequals and minor upgrades. Polyphany digital, you've done it again.
The Only Impression = GT5 is AWESOME... 3D GT5 FTW!!!
I have to admit something; Well, I've never really been a fan of driving games! Even when I was younger my friend tried to make me play the original GT game but I wouldn't have it, but wow do I regret that now. GT5 looks more impressive than I could ever imagine, but it's not just the visuals...the game packs more features than I've ever seen before! Article is right, November 2nd can't get here soon enough.
Even people who don't normally enjoy racing games can hop on in and enjoy a GT game. I personally believe that it has to do with the collection aspect. Racing itself may be unappealing to some people, but I'll be damned if there is a single person in the world that doesn't enjoy collecting things, especially things as shiny, interactive, and beautiful as cars! It really is more than just a racing game. :D
Yeah, the collection is a big thing for me but, my favourite aspect, is the precision driving required for the licence tests. I've got a soft spot for drifting as well. Time trials as well. Racing, funny enough, is my least favourite aspect.
bubbles to all gt suporters, this is gona be the first truely next gen racing game out, its actually taking full advantage of the bluray and PS3 which very few games have done this gen, the content in this game alone is worth 3 games easy, is it any wonder it has taken them almost 5 years to make, I cant thank PD enough for the attention to detail and content that they are providing for me, its a def day 1 and limited ed for me.
inb4opiumsnakes ignorance uggggg im late again. hey that can be said the same for forza useless AI. and you can go and do that while i sit in my car watching you do that while the cops come and arrest you.
Nice car game but i'll give it a miss not my cup of tea. Not that i have anything aginst GT5 it's just that i already have Forza 3 and Mario Cart.
why would you not want to play an actual next gen racing game instead of forza 3?
because i love cars maybe.
Don't you get it? This opium snake just joined n4g and has nothing but troll posts in PS3 articles. He isn't asking a legitimate question. He is some angry 360 fanboy tired of getting bettered by PS3 supporters. He is upset at all of the great titles coming to the PS3 and he made the wrong choice in a console buy. His dissatisfaction is directed at the PS3 but in reality is he just mad at himself. Anyone want to guess whose double account he is?
IRetrouk...if you love cars like you said...you would not talk like a retard about forza3 and you would enjoy both gt5 and forza3 like me! because i really love cars and if you do so,you'll want to enjoy every great racing sim out there..not only one! so thats why i assume you're a gt fanboy...not a racing or a car fan!
I'd say a big reason to still consider GT is that you are going to be getting over 600 cars that you didn't have the chance to drive in Forza! That's a big deal, well to me at least. I believe that there is plenty of difference between the two games for it to be worth owning both. But hey, since you are speaking your honest opinion and not trolling, I'll just respectfully disagree and be on my way! EDIT: Nevermind, looked at your comment history. You're a troll. Now I'll just respectfully disagree and take your bubbles! :D
if you count 32 versions of R32-R34 skylines as 32 different cars then sure, youll get 600 that you didnt get to race in Forza 3. but if like any sane person you just count the R32 GT-R, R33 GT-R and R34 GT-R as one car each, youre gonna end up with more or less the same amount of cars in GT5 as there are in Forza 3. PD have already confirmed 30+ RX7s, 30+ Skylines, 20+ Lancer Evolutions and 20+ WRXs. that right there is 100 of the 1000 cars, but only actually about 20 really unique cars. being the CAR fanatic that i am, ill most likely buy GT5 on release. but if GT1-4 are anything to go by, which by the looks of it they are, ill be going back to Forza 3 in no time.
It is Mario Kart troll
I'm telling you guys, it is IMPOSSIBLE for consoles to pull off these kinds of visuals at 1080p at 60fps in 3D, consoles are too effing weak. What you've seen so far are nothing but fake trailers and bullshots. Polyphony digital, you can't spell it without PHONY in the middle. EDIT @ below Like I said earlier, bullshot. No hud, no controller prompts = bullshot.
lol are you that insecure? GT5 graphics will be nothing short of amazing, and that's only one aspect of the game. http://i50.tinypic.com/24c9...
Lol, that was from replay mode. All that mode does is just add motion blur and more AA. Cars and tracks still contain the same amount of poly numbers and textures. Hell imo it doesn't need more AA due to it's 16xMLAA, but that's just me. They're even talking about it on NeoGaf on how good GT5 looks. Face it kid, PS3 pwns.
@MexicanAppleThief: no, Replay mode uses higher LOD car models than the in-game ones. every GT game has done this since GT1, and GT5 is no exception. also, replay mode adds far more post-processing effects than just motion blur and AA, hence the drop from 60fps to 30fps. and no, it doesnt use 16xMLAA in-game OR in replay mode. and LOLconsoles is right about 1080p - these consoles cannot do 1080p in 3D for anything other than the most basic arcade type games (ie. Super Stardust HD). GT5 isnt even natively 1080p while playing in 2D, so im at a loss to explain why people think that its somehow going to be 1080p in 3D. and ill repeat it again because some of you still dont seem to understand - as good as GT5 looks, it is NOT natively 1080p. it is upscaled to 1080p, from 1280x1080 to 1920x1080. for those that arent very good at maths, thats a 50% upscale horizontally. fanboy disagrees in 3, 2, 1........
Well, you should be ashamed for that. They could have launched the game 2 years ago and sell more than 10 million copies. But you know what, they didn't because they care about quality, something that you obviously don't understand
but I will still bite. They're not bullshot. It's not like all we've seen are trailers There have been countless hands-on impressions, Hell this article IS a hands-on impression... Though yes it is true this game won't be full 1080p @ 60fps AND 3D, I suspect that it will take a similar approach as SSHD where it's either 1080p @ 60fps or 720p @ 120fps + 3D either way, *as this impression has pointed out* the game looks great in 3D
it depends what you classify as 'Bullshot'. to me, a bullshot is anything other than 100% in-game graphics. replay mode is NOT in-game graphics, so posting it as a screenshot is misleading. a misleading screenshot is a bullshot. granted, nearly every developer adds at least AA to their officially released screenshots - which is why i pay no attention to them. the only screens that are indicative of in-game are those that are captured directly from the console while actually in-game, HUD and all. basically, what you see in the screen is what youd see if you were playing the game. anything other than that, IMO, is a bullshot. now i know others disagree, but just because your definition of a bullshot is more lenient than someone elses doesnt make you right and them wrong. it just means the other person prefers to be given 100% accurate examples of the game.
If you're not looking forward to playing this, then I can't see how you are even interested in games in general. This game will join the immortals, in years to come our grandchildren will question us on our gaming rig setup when this game launched. seat or chair? Move or wheel? HD or 3d?
LBP2, GT5 , INFAMOUS 2, SoCom 4, Omg then for 2011 KILLZONE 3
so for you only PS3 games are GOTY. Pure fanboyism... Pure N4G
Mentioning great games that can be potential GOTY's however it is fanboyism to not accept such great games are contenders. Although yes adonis did fail to mention Mass effect 2, Heavy rain and GoW3
Nice article. I also loved the playable demo at E3. It was short but SWEET.
Definitely, definitely, DEFINITELY getting that Logitech steering wheel for this game. I've waited so long, I think I owe it to myself.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sick of hearing about this game, just needs to come out already so we can stop having 5 posts a day on the same Fing game
I really can't stand it, but for some CRAZY reason I absolutely cannot get enought of GT. I will definetely get the GT wheel . ps do polyphony do peripheral driving gloves, goggles & scarf? LoL
GT5 looking nothing short of a pure masterpeice, me and my bf are so excited for this just for the content alone, let alone the crazy graphix
GT5 is looking amazing with loads to offer driving fans. Got a Logitech wheel and pedals around a year ago ready for this game, and It's nearly here. Been playing other driving games (NFS Shift, Ferrarri Challenge, Supercar Challenge, Midnight Club LA, GRID, DIRT 1 and 2, F1 CE and GT5p) while waiting for GT5 release. It can't come soon enough. Roll on November.
this and the g27 will be amazing going order the g27 for GT5 can not wait.
The worst thing is Sony has these great game trailers but they never put them on T.V. the trailer they have for this is awesome. All they need to do is make this a commercial.
I'm already emptying my pockets for 3D and Move... I'm now inclined to invest in forced feedback steering wheels. GT5 sounds and looks amazing! Definate day one purchase. I'm sure turn 10 will still announce themselves as still being the definitive raceing game developers for this generation after GT5 comes out and it nears forza 4's release. But I say let them, because if they don't announce it, who will?
I would like to see a 3D commercial for GranTurismo 5 in the theaters.. that would simply be awesome to see. Think before putting money on a 3D screen ( unless you are filthy rich and can afford easily unlike some of us.. ), would be fair to say a PS Eye-cam would be ( for now ) a better and more suitable add-on investment kit which is far more useful to players of GranTurismo. Also sure by now a lot of gamers out there have invested a sturdy and reliable steering wheel ( either G25, a Driving Force GT or new G27, also more expensive Fanatec ). Just imagine how easy and natural the feel would be when you are doing a passing or overtake maneuver during on-line racing.. by instinctively moving your head from side-to-side instead of pressing down on the control pad buttons., would be brilliant.
Day 1 buy for me. I'll be playing in cockpit veiw, manual transmission with a Logitech steering wheel and pedals. GT5prologue is amazing, can't wait for the full GT5. Will even try the head tracking with PS camera, to see what its like.
Can't afford 3D TV yet, maybe a couple of years.
Been waiting for GT5 for years now and not long left, nearly here.
