SCEA to Eat, Sleep, Play With David Jaffe's New Studio; Working on Twisted Metal, More

Confirming earlier rumors, Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that acclaimed God of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe has founded a new Utah-based game development studio with Incognito Entertainment founder and now-former president Scott Campbell.

The new studio, which goes by the moniker Eat, Sleep, Play, has signed a multi-year deal with Sony to create games exclusively for PlayStation platforms. The first announced game is Twisted Metal: Head On for PlayStation 2 -- presumably at its core a port of the 2005 PSP title -- which will contain new material in the form of previously-unreleased Twisted Metal Black levels and a series documentary on which Jaffe recently blogged.

i think sony bit them selves in the butt when they said we don't need to pay for exclusives, because when jaffe said he would open his new studio everyone asked him if he would go multi he said as long as sony sends him a check he developes for ps3 only, but thats what i think

It was really only a joke towards Microsoft, Sony does and will pay for exclusives if it sees fit. Gurrilla for example. They bought the developer studio. Same for Zipper or whoever makes SOCOM. They pay for it wether they want to admit it or not. NCSoft has signed a deal with them for PS3 games. You can't tell me the deal was for free.

I am a little disappointed on PS2 only, but I guess I can live with it. They will probally bring something to PS3 after reconizing how many fans want this game series.

He wasn't fired he quit. He's a smart guy. He's getting paid still by Sony. I wonder what exactly these guys are cooking up. This is a real veteran team of developers. I hope its TM Black 2 or something like that.
