GOS - The Agency E3 2010 Impressions - Back on My Radar

Mucu from GamesOnSmash.com writes, "My, my how things have changed in a year. Last E3, SOE’s The Agency showed off its PVE prowess, but this year was all about the PVP. Right when I sat down, I was told that the team has been hard at work on making The Agency’s PVP experience be able to compete with the best FPS’s around. I won’t lie - I was definitely skeptical. Could an MMO based shooter really take on the likes of Call of Duty or Halo? After my hands-on time, I’m surprised and pleased to say that it might." (E3, PC, PS3, The Agency)

Please don't, you have better potential than that SOE.

Yeah, when i saw it, i didnt like the direction it was going. It looked just like another generic shooter. I thought we could do covert missions and not just run and gun. They also added chest high walls to make it like Gears/U2.

They showed the covert PvE stuff last year. It's still in there. They just focused on the PvP stuff this year to appease the CoD-heads. The only thing I'm nervous about now is the possibility of a monthly fee. The Agency devs said they were waiting to see how DC Universe handled it, and DC Universe is going to have a monthly charge. I'd like to play both but I don't want to pay for both on a monthly basis. I'm hoping that a PSN+ subscription will negate those monthly fees but that may be wishful thinking. I'll be going UNITE for the simple reason that I've played the musclebound merc role in so many other games already. The gadget using spy sounds like a nice change of pace.

You all can't seem to tell the difference between the PvP and PvE portions of an MMO. Yes, the covert missions are still in there, but they are the PvE portions of the game. They only showed off PvP sections this E3...

hazeblaze is right , and given their nature let's be honest ... how would they would efficiently work in pvp ?

And let's be even more honest , the game looked to be an outdated mess with great concepts on paper , ever since the extended gameplay footage began showing up over a year ago .

At least , unlike alpha protocol , they took the extra time to rework it into something seemingly nice .

I'm more interested in Agent (being developed by Rockstar Games) than this. I was actually confused awhile back and I thought they were the same thing, but they're separate games, though both console exclusive to the PS3.
