RUMOUR: Nintendo 3DS Launches September 19th?

It looks as if the Nintendo 3DS could possibly be launching in North America this year, a possible slip up in an article written by venturebeat.com shows that Nintendos new console which takes advantage of the latest 3D technology without glasses could see a September 2010 launch.

"Nintendo is going to clean up in the fall with this device, which launches Sept. 19 in North America. The only thing we are waiting on is the price."

http://www.venturebeat.com/... (Casual games, Nintendo, Nintendo DS)

Update Venturebeat has that section of the article to "Nintendo is going to clean up in the fall with this device, which launches sometime in the fiscal year that ends March 31, 2011. The only thing we are waiting on is the price."

Could this be a possible cover up or a simple mistake?

Hard to tell

A bit confused with the 3DS so any info would be appreciated
*Now, is the 3DS the next gen DS or is it like the DSlite, DSXL, DS etc, a version of the current gen DS that can do 3D?

*If it is the next gen DS, are there any vids showing games running on it and if so could you pls linky?

*Was it announced at the Ninty conference of it's launch date? I don't remember seeing it.

-It’s next gen DS, but it can play original DS game cartridges too (or so I’ve heard.)
- http://www.gametrailers.com... (All you need to know about the hardware it’s self...)
-I can’t really find any good gameplay camera video’s right now, because the 3D effect kinda blurs stuff.
-No launch date or price yet.

It's the successor to the DS. There's only really demos right now but they're all real time. There's a video of the 3D Metal Gear Solid 3 port somewhere. I'll see if I can find a link.

No launch date yet.

EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

There ya go.

September? That's a pretty ambitious release goal in my opinion. October sounds more reasonable.

Now that doesn't mean I don't want it to come out in September. I would love it :D

I doubt it. That's probably a price-drop date for the DSLite and DSi/XL.

Nintendo always launches in Japan 1st, to my recollection, and Japan isn't supposed to get the 3DS until ~March 2011.

Actually 3DS is being released BEFORE March 2011 and it's possible they'll go for a worldwide release because they want to stop piracy in Europe and they've commented that America picks up on trends slower than the UK and Japan.

Just an interesting tidbit, September 19th is only 3 days after the beginning of the Tokyo Game Show. This could be interesting if true.

Would be cool, but it sounds too early. Nintendo would have announced it if release was that close.

Hey this is only 3 days after the beginning of the Tokyo Games Show. Who knows.
Myst  +   1559d ago
As long as it releases sometime by the end of the year it would make other people and myself extremely happy.
Neo Nugget  +   1559d ago
So would Nintendo. They'd be swimming in money.
Myst  +   1559d ago
Lol so true, but I don't have a DS anymore anyway and it was a launch that I gave away so need one for Golden Sun :(

venturebeat is as reputable a source as they come.

Serious question, was that sarcasm? =/
SpaceFox  +   1559d ago
That sounds very possible. It seems like the 3DS is already complete, since they mass produced them for E3. There were like 200 hot women on that stage, each holding a 3DS.

I really hope so too! I bought Soul Silver a while ago but I only have a DS Phat, and the screen is just crap. It's all scratched and everything. I was gonna buy a DSi but Nintendo sold me on the 3DS, so the sooner the better!

For me Xbox360 and Nintendo Wii are dead even when they will recive Halo Reach, Gears 3, Metroid and Zelda Wii.

The future for me will be PS3 + PSP+PSp2+ DS+ 3Ds .

Knowing Nintendo
I'm gonna wait for 3DSLite or 3DSXL.

If I just got a dollar every time someone said that...
azshorty2003  +   1559d ago
I doubt it. everything at E3 are only stage demos. there wouldnt be much for launch titles.

also i wasnt aware that this is actually a next generation DS. thought it was just another version of the DS. curious how beefed up the new processor is and what its capable of.
